They call it the hammock ritual. But it’s really just a moment, stolen from time, suspended between sky and river.

Onboard La Perla, woven hammocks wait by the deck, facing the forest. You lie back. You sway. And suddenly, everything slows. Birdsong replaces your thoughts. The wind carries nothing urgent. And for a while, doing nothing becomes the most meaningful thing.

Some guests nap, others read. But most just stay there, watching the Amazon drift by, grateful for the stillness.

Every excursion into the Amazon holds a story, sometimes feathered, sometimes furry.

You might walk past a branch and only later realize the potoo bird had been watching all along. Perfectly camouflaged, it blinks once, then disappears into stillness.

High in the canopy, a churuco monkey makes itself heard. Endemic to this part of the rainforest, it's one of the most endangered primates in the region. Curious, cautious, and always watching back.

Then comes the color, a pair of red-and-green macaws gliding overhead. Lifelong partners, they move together, speak in bursts of sound, and vanish into the sky.

A few steps later, hanging like a pendant from the trees, a three-toed sloth naps in slow motion. Its fur carries algae, turning it into part of the landscape, as if the jungle had grown it herself.

What starts as a walk often becomes a memory you didn’t see coming and each encounter adds a layer to your journey.

The river doesn’t just take you somewhere, it draws you in.

Aboard La Perla, you don’t just sail, you flow. You dive in when the river opens, watch pink dolphins dance at a distance, and feel the forest mirror itself on the water.

From the deck or from the shore, from a kayak or mid-swim, every moment here is lived with the river.

They appear without warning, sometimes alone, sometimes in pairs, gliding just below the surface like a secret you were lucky enough to witness.

On this World Whale and Dolphin Day, we celebrate one of the Amazon’s most extraordinary inhabitants: the pink river dolphin. Sacred to many local communities and found only in these waters, their presence reminds us of how delicate and alive this ecosystem truly is.

Spotting one feels less like checking a box and more like being chosen by the river itself.

There are moments when the world asks nothing of you. Just warm water, a sky turning gold and a river that slows everything down. Out here, even the quiet feels like part of the experience.

And the view? It does all the talking.

Behind every walk in the forest, every taste of a local dish, and every lesson shared by the river, there’s someone who makes it possible.

The communities we work with aren’t just part of the journey, they are the heart of it. Their knowledge, warmth, and stories shape the way our guests experience the Amazon.

And through each visit, something returns to them too: support for local initiatives, fair collaborations, and opportunities that grow alongside the forest. Because when travel is rooted in respect, everyone moves forward.

The aroma of wild garlic and ají dulce fills the air. Hands fold bijao leaves around fresh fish, tightly, like they’ve done it a hundred times.

This is Patarashca, a dish born in riverside homes and passed from memory to memory. Every ingredient tells a story: cocona for the spark, the leaf for the soul, the fire for the rhythm.

In our local cooking class, you don’t just learn a recipe. You share a ritual and become part of a tradition that tastes like the forest itself.

Some views don’t fit in a postcard.

In the morning, the river mirrors the sky, still and full of light. By afternoon, the light softens and everything feels closer, more alive. And when night falls, the river turns to glass, catching fire in the last light of day.

From sunrise to nightfall, the view keeps changing, always quiet, always vast, always real.

In the Amazon, fishing is more than tradition, it’s a livelihood that sustains entire communities.

Each cast into the river reflects knowledge passed down through generations, and each catch helps move the local economy forward. It supports families, markets, and the rhythm of daily life in remote villages.

On Fisherman’s Day, we recognize those who rely on the river not just to feed others, but to build futures rooted in balance, resilience, and care for the land they call home.

The Amazon is never the same twice.

During high water season, the forest becomes a quiet labyrinth. You move between trees that rise from the water, guided by light, reflection, and the rhythm of your kayak. It’s a time of movement, of hidden lagoons, mirror-like surfaces, and unexpected encounters on the water.

In low water season, the earth returns. Roots stretch into view, trails appear where water once flowed, and jungle walks reveal what had been submerged for months.
Two rhythms. Two perspectives. One river that transforms with time.

Deep in the jungle, the shushupe (Lachesis muta) weaves through the forest floor, almost invisible among the dry leaves. Known as one of the longest vipers in the world and among the most venomous, this snake is a symbol of the delicate balance and raw power of the Amazon.

Today, we had the rare chance to spot this elusive creature, a reminder of the mysterious, hidden world that lies beyond the riverbanks.

Each encounter like this one deepens our connection to the ancient stories of the rainforest and the incredible creatures that call it home.
