This year, we made an important investment in our camera equipment to better document and share the incredible wildlife of the Peruvian Amazon. 🌿📸

We added a Nikon Coolpix P1100 with an impressive 3000mm zoom lens, a GoPro 13 Black, and a new phone to our gear. With this equipment, we hope to capture even more of the extraordinary biodiversity that surrounds us here near Iquitos — from rare birds and primates to hidden rainforest life.

Our goal is to use these photos and videos for many years to come, bringing the beauty of the Amazon closer to all of you and raising awareness about its importance.

Every client who joins our tours helps us grow our business, create jobs for the local community, and protect more habitat for wildlife. Your support has a direct impact, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Together, we are not only exploring the rainforest — we are helping preserve it for future generations.

11 Most Feared Animals of the Amazon 🌿

The Amazon is home to some truly fascinating — and sometimes intimidating — creatures. Here are those that often earn the most respect from locals and visitors alike:

① Green Anaconda (Eunectes murinus) – The heaviest snake in the world, capable of taking large prey in the water.
② Red Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) – Famous for their razor-sharp teeth and fast attacks, though rarely dangerous to humans.
③ Black Caiman (Melanosuchus niger) – A large, powerful predator of rivers and lakes.
④ Arapaima / Paiche (Arapaima gigas) – Not dangerous to humans, but incredibly strong; can leap and strike with force.
⑤ Freshwater Stingray (Potamotrygon motoro and others) – Its venomous stinger causes intense pain and serious wounds.
⑥ Bushmaster (Lachesis muta) – One of the largest and most venomous vipers in South America.
⑦ Amazon Scorpion (Tityus obscurus) – Painful sting and potentially dangerous.
⑧ Bullet Ant (Paraponera clavata) – Known for delivering the most painful insect sting in the world.
⑨ Tarantula – The largest spider by mass, impressive in size and strength.
⑩ Candiru – A tiny parasitic fish, infamous (and feared) for its extremely rare but notorious habit of entering body openings.
⑪ Electric Eel (Electrophorus electricus) – Can deliver a shock of up to 600 volts, enough to stun large animals and even deter predators.

🐾 The Amazon isn’t just dangerous — it’s full of wonder and surprises. Respect the wildlife, and you’ll discover an incredible world few get to experience!

Hi friends!
Lately, I’ve received many bookings for different types of tours, and I’ll be quite busy traveling over the next few months.
That’s why I created a Google Calendar—so if you’re planning to visit Iquitos and want to have an unforgettable experience, you can easily check if I’m still available for a private tour.
Last year’s herping season was very active, so I recommend booking in advance.
🛶 From July to October is sport fishing season, and it’s also a great time to find anacondas near my camp. With the low water levels, it’s perfect for catching and photographing ornamental fishes.
🐸 From November to May, we enter the best time for herping—ideal for spotting frogs, snakes, and other rainforest creatures.
Hope to see you soon in the jungle! 🌿

Exciting news! Two new species of Atelopus have been officially described in Loreto, Peru!

A few years ago, during an exploration trip with Bernardo, we had the incredible chance to observe these fascinating toads in their natural habitat. Now, after months of research, they are finally featured in a scientific article. How amazing is that?

If you'd like to see these Atelopus species in the wild, let me know! We’ve identified 3–4 different spots where they can be found.

🌟 Thank You for an Incredible 2024 with Wildlife Tours Peru 🌟

This year has been unforgettable, all thanks to you, our dear clients, who trusted us to provide unique adventures in the Amazon. 🌿

From exploring the jungle in search of wildlife—wild monkeys, giant anacondas, poisonous frogs, and colorful birds—to navigating rivers teeming with fascinating fish and walking through cities rich in history and exotic life, every experience was special because you were a part of it.

We’ve had the pleasure of hosting visitors from all over the world: Taiwan, the USA, Switzerland, Germany, Peru, England, Spain, and more! It’s been an honor to share our passion for nature with such wonderful people.

🏕️ Tahuayo Wildlife Camp , our jungle camp, also had an amazing year. This haven remains the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature, interact with the Amazonian community, and experience true ecotourism. This year, we added a new private cabin to provide even more comfort and exclusivity for our guests.

🚤 Every tour was a window into the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon: monkeys, frogs, tarantulas, birds, piranhas, and so much more. Thank you for trusting us to explore the magic of this unique ecosystem.

🙏 We are deeply grateful to each and every one of you for making this year so special for Wildlife Tours Peru. Your support inspires us to continue growing and offering even better experiences in 2025.

💚 We look forward to seeing you in 2025! We’re now booking clients for July through December. In summer, conditions are perfect for sport fishing and searching for ornamental fish. During the rising water season, wildlife observation of primates, snakes, and frogs is at its peak. Each season offers a unique perspective of the jungle: two different worlds, both equally fascinating.

We offer fully private tours, ideal for solo travelers or small groups. If you’re passionate about photography, herpetology, wildlife, or adventure, we are the perfect company for you!
