Quechua Lamistas
In the Northern Amazonian of Peru the Quechua Lamistas reside. Even being an Amazonian etnia, their inhabitants speak Quechua, an Andean language, and identified themselves and claim to be descendants of the Chankas, pre-Columbian indigenous people that were defeat by the Incas and run away to northern area. Torreón de Kuelap

Today we will visit “El Torreon”, an outstanding construction part of Kuelap citadel. This tower, located just in the north end, rises up 7 meters and it’s believed it was used as a defense because stone weapons were found there. If you are interest in nature photography, this is a cool spot to take some of the best shots of the Amazonian landscape. Kuelap main gate

Did you know that there are just three accesses to the ancient citadel of Kuelap? These entrances have a funnel-shape, wide at the beginning in the outside and narrow as it progresses to the interior part, which allowed the entry of just one person at a time. It’s said these entrances were specially designed to protect the citadel from invaders.
