Pioneers in Latin American Wine Tourism

We were born in the Andes.

Born in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, our story of exploring Latin America began in 1975.

Long before wine tourism became an established part of luxury travel in Latin America, we were on the ground; walking vineyards, entering cellars, tasting from tanks and barrels, meeting producers and learning the history and character behind the wines.

We didn’t simply visit wineries. We pioneered wine journeys; opening doors to private collections and creating experiences through relationships built on the ground.

These photographs from Chile in 2002 document some of that work in the Colchagua Valley; exploring Casa Silva and historic Angostura, tasting from tanks and barrels, testing experiences ourselves and training our Chilean team, based in our Santiago office, in wine, oenology and wine tourism.

At Angostura, we also encountered the deeper heritage of Chilean wine, including the legacy of Bouchon Hermanos.

Because genuine expertise cannot simply be written into an itinerary. It has to be learned on the ground.

Among those relationships was our friendship with the late Osvaldo Bisquertt Revecco, founder of Viña Bisquertt and one of our trusted wine specialists in Latin America.

These were the people behind the journeys.

Our knowledge helped us develop wine journeys across Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and beyond; combining wine with gastronomy, culture, landscapes and local expertise.

Years later, clients writing in International Travel News documented a journey we arranged through Uruguay, Argentina and Chile, including 19 winery visits and tastings.

Their verdict?

“Outstanding experience.”

For more than five decades, our philosophy has remained simple:

In 2013, Amazing Peru designed and operated one of the world's most ambitious and pioneering accessible expeditions on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Steve Gleason and his team, helping redefine what was possible in accessible adventure travel.
The expedition would later be featured by ESPN, Amazon Prime, and institutions around the world, becoming an important milestone in the evolution of accessible exploration.

As the Southern Hemisphere welcomes the winter solstice, we are watching the sunrise over one of Peru’s most remarkable archaeological landscapes.

More than 2,300 years ago, Chankillo’s thirteen towers were built to follow the sun’s journey across the horizon, making this one of the world’s oldest known solar observatories.

Standing here, it’s impossible not to admire the extraordinary understanding of the sky, the seasons and the landscape that existed in the Andes long before the Inca Empire.

Some places don’t just tell history, they remind us how deeply we have always been connected to nature.
