In 2013, Amazing Peru designed and operated one of the world's most ambitious and pioneering accessible expeditions on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Steve Gleason and his team, helping redefine what was possible in accessible adventure travel.
The expedition would later be featured by ESPN, Amazon Prime, and institutions around the world, becoming an important milestone in the evolution of accessible exploration.

As the Southern Hemisphere welcomes the winter solstice, we are watching the sunrise over one of Peru’s most remarkable archaeological landscapes.

More than 2,300 years ago, Chankillo’s thirteen towers were built to follow the sun’s journey across the horizon, making this one of the world’s oldest known solar observatories.

Standing here, it’s impossible not to admire the extraordinary understanding of the sky, the seasons and the landscape that existed in the Andes long before the Inca Empire.

Some places don’t just tell history, they remind us how deeply we have always been connected to nature.

Nearly five decades later, founder Mariela Rurush met again in Chamonix in 2025 with René Ghilini, pioneer of the first delta wing flight from Huascarán and in the Andes in 1977, supported in the Cordillera Blanca by Filiberto Rurush as part of the mountain team that made this pioneering expedition possible, as part of the living operational continuity of Amazing Peru since 1975.

We were honoured to see him again and remember this remarkable expeditionary chapter connected to the Andes and international mountain culture, reflecting the continuity of relationships, trust, and alpine connections developed across generations.
