When you think of Peru and photography, like others you may picture the endless landscapes, bright fabrics, llamas, ruins. But, we like to hit the streets with camera in hand. When we do, we are able to capture a different vibrancy, a different vibration.

Textiles play an important part in our shared history and evolution. Today they not only have a vital place in the economic role of women in Peru, but there is still cultural and social significance to the styles and colors used.

Spun by hand with the “Pushka” spindle, women turn raw bundles of fiber into spools of thread to later be dyed.
—
When you become familiar with, or belong to a certain region you notice that the styles are indicative of that region. Upon meeting someone you likely know where they are from based on these features.
