The fishing begins! 🎣🌿
I’m starting with a 35 g gold spoon, a great choice for these deep pools and strong current. The weight allows the lure to sink quickly and reach the deeper water where dorado may be holding.
For this setup, I’m using the Shimano Convergence Peacock Bass rod, Sedona 3000 reel, Shimano braided line and fluorocarbon, plus BKK snaps and hooks.
Now it’s time to put the setup to the test and see what the river has in store. 🎣🔥

After more than two hours hiking through the forest, we finally reached a fascinating meeting point where saltwater and freshwater come together. 🌿💧
Raúl, Guitou and I stopped for a moment to take in this incredible landscape. This is truly wild Amazonia — a place where jaguars have even been spotted in the area. 🐆🌳
Soon, we’ll start heading downstream to fish. But first, we take a moment to enjoy the beauty and wilderness around us.

Sometimes the Amazon changes the plan. 🌿🎣
Our original fishing river was too high, so we headed deeper into the forest, walking for more than two hours toward the headwaters.
Finally, we reached this beautiful red-sand beach, where a clean, fishable creek was coming down from the hills. Fortunately, in these highland areas, there are several rivers and creeks to explore — so when one isn’t suitable for fishing, we always have another option.
The adventure continues, one creek at a time. 🌿🎣

One of the most fascinating signs of wildlife in the Amazon. 🌿🐆
Here, you can see the marks left by a jaguar scratching this tree. Jaguars may scratch tree trunks as part of natural territorial and scent-marking behavior, although the exact purpose can vary.
For us, these marks are a reminder that we are walking through a forest where wild animals are still present. 🌳🐆

In the Amazon rainforest, nature is also our pharmacy. 🌿
Today, our guide Raúl shows us the Capirona tree and how local communities traditionally use its bark for natural skin care. He carefully scrapes the bark from the trunk and explains how it is traditionally applied to the skin.
Another fascinating example of the traditional knowledge found in the Peruvian Amazon. 🌿🌳

The Matapalo — one of the Amazon rainforest’s most fascinating trees. 🌿
While exploring the jungle with Guitou, our local guide showed us this incredible tree, whose roots and vines wrap tightly around another tree, climbing from the ground toward the canopy.
For generations, communities in the Amazon have used different parts of these plants in traditional medicine.
Nature here is not just beautiful — it is fascinating, complex and full of stories waiting to be discovered. 🌿🌎

After hours of walking through the primary rainforest, we finally reached this incredible riverside beach. 🌿🏞️
Red sand, crystal-clear water flowing down from the mountains, and a landscape that feels almost unreal.
These are the moments that make exploring the Peruvian Amazon so special. Not just the destination, but the journey, the surprises and the feeling of discovering places far beyond the usual paths.
As Jacquouille would say: “C’est de toute beauté!” 🇫🇷😂

“Se siente como Cambernard… pero a escala amazónica.” 🌿🌎
Caminando por los ríos de la Cordillera Azul, Guitou recuerda los lagos y bosques donde crecimos en Francia, lugares donde de niños pescábamos, caminábamos y explorábamos juntos.
Pero aquí, todo parece mucho más grande. Lo que allá llamaríamos un pequeño charco, aquí puede convertirse en un río o una laguna. Y durante el camino, los loros, los monos y un paisaje completamente salvaje hacen que la experiencia sea todavía más especial.
Sus primeras impresiones de la Amazonía son inolvidables. 🌿🎣

Sometimes the smallest moments become the most memorable. 🕷️🌿
One night at camp, while sharing the evening with Guitou and our cook, we stopped to watch a spider patiently building its web, thread by thread, preparing its trap for the night.
A tiny moment, but one that brought us a lot of joy. This is also the magic of the Amazon — slowing down, observing, and discovering nature all around you. 🌿✨
