The people of Deboyne Lagoon are famous for their Sailing Canoes or "SALAU". In these tough economic times, it make sense that we see an increase in the use of the Sailau.
I was anchored at North Panapompom the other day and saw this one and quite a few more moving around.

We took a trip to the Backpages of Milne Bay to deliver Donated School Equipment.
A good chance to try out the plastic wrapper of an EXPORT 6 pack for our jet head lure.
It was shredded, first bite. I made up three new lures. Definitely a one use lure with the toothy critters around Rossel Island. The back pages of PNG.

This is East Cape where the land ends.
The island of New Guinea is 1500 miles long and its area covers over 300,000 Sq miles. It's the 2nd largest island in the world.
The photo shows the most easterly tip of New Guinea. Where the mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. It's home to a thriving community of fishermen, traders, teachers, church workers and ordinary people hustling to keep going day by day.
People from islands up to 100 miles away use East Cape as their jump off point. On a good day as many as 100 Dinghies will come to East Cape to deliver passengers and market cargo and pick up stores and return passengers.
PMVs and Busses will maintain a steady stream of transport from here to Alotau, the Provincial Capital.
