🚢🌴 MILNE BAY WELCOMES ANOTHER EXPEDITION SHIP! 🌊✨

Milne Bay continues to shine as a growing destination for cruise and expedition tourism! 🇵🇬💙

This morning, the magnificent Paspaley Pearl under Island Escape Yacht, a luxury superyacht and expedition vessel, arrived in Alotau, bringing visitors eager to explore our province’s rich history, culture, and attractions.

Through the dedicated efforts of ViLink Tours and Expeditions, more than 20 tourists were taken on the Battle of Milne Bay Historical Tour and Alotau Town Highlights Tour. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the significant history of the Battle of Milne Bay while discovering the beauty, culture, and highlights of our town.

A special mention and appreciation to Maleta Tokwakwasi and VilLink Tours & Expedition PNG for their continued efforts in showcasing Milne Bay to international visitors and creating opportunities for local tourism development. 👏🏽🌺

We also extend our sincere gratitude to all stakeholders who helped facilitate this visit, including our dedicated bus drivers, NAQIA, PNG Ports Corporation – Alotau, and everyone who contributed to ensuring the smooth movement and welcoming of our visitors. Preparations are well underway here in Alotau, Milne Bay Province, as our hardworking local people put in long hours to construct the festival structures ahead of the three-day celebration from 6th–8th November 2026. 👏🏽

In consideration of the ongoing El Niño conditions, the Festival Committee has scaled down the number of participating groups, with representatives expected from each district to showcase their unique cultures and traditions.

🏆 2026 MAYOR’S CUP OFFICIALLY OPENS WITH GREAT ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT! 🎉⚽

Today marks the exciting opening of the 2026 Mayor’s Cup, bringing together communities from across 7 wards (6 urban wards and 1 rural ward) with participants travelling from as far as Lelehoa to Rabe.

The competition will feature a range of sporting activities, including:

⚽ Soccer
🏉 Rugby
🏐 Netball
🏐 Volleyball
🎯 Darts

Beyond the competition, the Mayor’s Cup promotes unity, teamwork, sportsmanship and community participation through sports.

To support the event, the Mayor with Alotau Urban Local Level Government (AULLG) has sponsored essential items, including:

✅ Coolers
✅ Umbrellas
✅ Containers

Expedition ships usually carry fewer passengers than traditional cruise ships! 🛳️

Many expedition vessels accommodate around 100–200 passengers, allowing for a more personal experience, smaller shore excursions and closer encounters with nature and local communities. 🌿🏝️

Some larger expedition ships can carry up to 500 passengers, depending on their design and destination.
