Kalam Identity
This attached image depicts the traditional dress of the Simbai people, worn during feasts and ceremonies. This attire is an important aspect of our cultural identity and is known as Kalam. The Simbai territory is primarily located in Middle Ramu District, with only 25% of land is in Upper Ramu District (also referred to as Usino Bundi), within the Madang Province.
The name Simbai encompasses three (3) distinct languages: Ganz, Marlring, and Kalam being the main language we used.
Despite the fact that we have three distinct languages, we share a common culture and traditional practices such as hunting, gardening, gathering, and dancing. Our dress is also unique to our community in Madang, but it bears similarities to that of the Highlands Region..

So when we say "Nimbem or Marm", it's represent our culture, our people and our land.
Nimbem means Cousin
Marm means Brother.
