Yesterday, things were kept lowkey and it was simply said that something was cooking.

Today, we can finally say: IT’S A WRAP.

What began with palengke runs, conversations over market stalls, research, preparations, and countless small details has now taken form as the “Palengke Tour Circuit” prepared by Jay Aquino, Lucio Sison, Aaron Gaerlan-Dalusung Rivera, and Daj Garcia.

From the market to the table, from stories to shared meals, this is more than just a tour; it is an experience shaped by community narratives, everyday spaces, and the culture that continues to live through the public market.

We thank everyone who became part of its first run, and of course, to the Angeles City Tourism Office (Experience Live Love Angeles City) for supporting this project.

An evening run through San Nicolas Public Market with FBSE Master Trainer and educator Jay Aquino, and cultural worker and Angeles local historian Lucio Sison, became more than just a quick stop for supplies (or say bunch of supplies). Between familiar stalls, conversations, and the beat of the market after dark, a few things quietly found their way into an upcoming project we’re keeping lowkey for now.

For the meantime, we’ll keep things understated.
But yes… something’s cooking. See you at daybreak.

Theater, creativity, and artistic expression

Today’s recital of the 2026 Summer Workshop of Teatro Angeleño, Inc. at Ulap Hall, Nepo Mart, Angeles City marked the culmination of the two-week junior theater workshop facilitated by Berna Bernardo and staged under the direction of John Jurado.

The program concluded with a message from the organization’s president, Maricar Yabut Sangalang, recognizing the efforts, growth, and dedication of the participants throughout the workshop, so as the trust of the parents for letting their children join the said activity.

Community theaters remain important not only as spaces that raises artistic expression, performance, and creativity, but also as venues where stories of communities can be told, interpreted, and remembered. Through theater, local narratives, experiences, emotions, and social realities are given life on stage, allowing people to reflect on both individual and collective experiences.

Congratulations to everyone behind this meaningful artistic initiative and to all participants who brought their learnings to the stage!

After the successful first run of "FOR ADULTS ONLY: What Goes Around in Angeles After Dark?", we open the streets once more on 30 May 2026.

Walk through stories, contradictions, memories, and realities that shaped Angeles after dark: where nightlife becomes a lens for understanding the city, its people, and the many layers often unseen in daylight.

This is more than a tour but an experience. And this experience is not designed for spectacle or comfort. Some conversations may be unsettling, confronting, and emotionally heavy. This is not for the faint-hearted, but for those willing to listen, observe, and understand.

Facilitated by Aaron Gaerlan-Dalusung Rivera.

The first run was offered at a special introductory rate. Beginning this rerun, the registration fee will now follow its original rate of PhP 1,200.00 per participant.

History remains to thrive through the work of young researchers who are willing to engage with archives, revisit narratives, and observe stories often left at the boundaries of public memory.

Recently, Mabalacat City College’s Bachelor of Arts in History students successfully defended a number of undergraduate theses covering various themes in local history, political history, social narratives, and community recollection. Among the studies presented were:

“Memories of Nepo: Social Narratives of the PX Era in Angeles City (1970–1991)”
Aaron John Garcia and Erica Joy Dizon

“Industrialized Operation: The Strategic Development of Guagua Cannery Under the National Food Products Corporation (1939–1945)”
Jayson Flores and Pauline Ison

“Capitalist Patronage: Vicente Madrigal’s Clientelist Statecraft Across the American Colonial and Postwar Eras (1916–1953)”
Justine Galang and Francis Joseph Crocker

These works reflect amounts of time of research, revisions, consultations, archival work, and serious historical inquiry; reminding us that the discipline of history is not only about studying the past, but also about understanding people, power, society, and memories.

Congratulations to these young historians, Garcia, Jayson and Justin; and to the rest of their batch, for reaching another meaningful academic milestone.

The public market is more than a place of trade; it is also a space of memory, culture, identity, and everyday storytelling.

Last 18 May 2026, the palengke vendors of Angeles City participated in a Capacity Development Training held at the Sínúpan Singsing Center for Kapampángan Cultural Heritage AAngeles City Library and Information Center

The session was facilitated by FBSE Master Trainer and educator Jay Aquino PhD, and cultural worker and storyteller Aaron Gaerlan-Dalusung Rivera.

Aquino discussed Tourism Awareness and Filipino Hospitality Relations, emphasizing the importance of hospitality, service, and local identity in shaping visitor experience. Meanwhile, Rivera facilitated the session on Storytelling and Narrative Sharing; encouraging vendors to recognize the value of their own stories, memories, and lived experiences as part of the cultural heritage of Angeles City.

Conducted in partnership with the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO/Experience Live Love Angeles City), the initiative aims to equip vendors with the skills and understanding needed to help preserve and promote both the tangible and intangible heritage assets of the palengke.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful stories of a city are found not in monuments alone, but in its palengke and in the people who keep them alive every single day; for the palengke remains the heart of a community.
