Duhat (scientific name: Syzygium cumini) is a popular tropical fruit in the Philippines, commonly known in English as Java plum, black plum, or Indian blackberry. It is also widely called lomboy in various Philippine dialects.
It is most often eaten fresh with a sprinkle of rock salt. A common childhood tradition involves placing the fruit and salt in a covered bowl or jar and shaking it vigorously until the fruit softens and releases its juices. It is also used to make juice, wine and jellies.
