Duhat (scientific name: Syzygium cumini) is a popular tropical fruit in the Philippines, commonly known in English as Java plum, black plum, or Indian blackberry. It is also widely called lomboy in various Philippine dialects.

It is most often eaten fresh with a sprinkle of rock salt. A common childhood tradition involves placing the fruit and salt in a covered bowl or jar and shaking it vigorously until the fruit softens and releases its juices. It is also used to make juice, wine and jellies.

Health Benefits and UsesDuhat is highly regarded in folk medicine for its various health properties:Diabetes Management: It is famously known as a "natural insulin" because its seeds, leaves, and fruit are used to help regulate blood sugar levels.Digestive Health: Extracts from the bark and leaves are used to treat diarrhea, gas, and stomach cramps.Nutrient-Rich: It is a good source of Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and antioxidants.

The duhat season in the Philippines typically runs from March to June, making it a quintessential summer snack.

✨ Regina RICA Pilgrimage Tour – Tanay, Rizal ✨

Our journey takes us to Regina RICA (Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia), a sacred pilgrimage site in the heart of Tanay, Rizal. This 13.5-hectare sanctuary is home to the awe-inspiring 71-foot statue of Our Lady, Queen of the Holy Rosary, standing gracefully atop a hill and surrounded by the lush greenery of the Sierra Madre mountains.

Guests can enjoy a serene walk through prayer paths, gardens, and candle houses designed for quiet reflection. At the top of the hill, we’ll visit the Rosary Garden and the chapel inside the Virgin’s mantle, a unique spiritual space that invites peace and contemplation.

The site is lovingly managed by the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii, who welcome pilgrims seeking prayer, healing, and renewal. Along the way, guests may also enjoy the panoramic views, fresh mountain breeze, and the calming presence of nature that make Regina RICA not only a religious destination but also a haven of peace and beauty.
