BICOL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ✈️🇵🇭

Also known as Southern Luzon International Airport. Is dubbed as the "Most Scenic Gateway" Airport in the Philippines.

On 8 October 2021, Bicol International Airport (BIA) started its first commercial operations, after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Transportation Secretary, Art Tugade, inaugurated the international airport just a day before on 7 October 2021. It was opened after 11 years of construction.

It is located in Daraga, Albay almost 15 km from Mt. Mayon and almost 2-3 km away from the old Legazpi Airport.

You might be wondering why its exterior design is just simple?

Since approximately 20 typhoons pass through the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), this region is usually one of the regions that is often most affected by tropical cyclones every single year so the Airport building has to be a typhoon resistant, and for volcanic eruption proofing design.
