PRESS STATEMENT

ON T3 POWER INTERRUPTION

September 17, 2022 - The Manila International Airport Authority apologizes to Terminal 3 passengers and other airport stakeholders for the inconvenience brought about by a power interruption that began on or about 11PM last night until early morning today.

The power outage disrupted airport operations as the airlines had to resort to manual check-in and loading of baggage while processing of passengers at immigration took longer than usual.

The MIAA Management together with Meralco conducted a joint probe to determine the cause of the problem which was traced to the Terminal 3 power substation.

As of 6AM today, the electric power in all areas of the Terminal has been restored.

16 international and 15 domestic flights were affected by the incident.

DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista and MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong who were in the Terminal early morning today, assured the public that action is now being undertaken to prevent recurrence of the incident.
