Badian Tourism Office Assists Trained Mountain Guides of Barangay Patong in DOT Accreditation Process
The Badian Tourism Office has facilitated the enrollment of the trained mountain guides of Barangay Patong into the accreditation system of the Department of Tourism (DOT), marking another important step toward strengthening professional, safe, and sustainable mountain tourism in the Municipality of Badian.
Following the completion of their required training, the mountain guides of Barangay Patong were assisted by the Municipal Tourism Office in navigating and completing the necessary registration and documentation for the DOT accreditation system. This initiative aims to ensure that local guides are properly recognized and equipped to provide quality tourism services to visitors exploring the municipality’s mountain destinations, particularly the Osmeña Peak area.
The accreditation process is part of the continuing efforts of the Local Government Unit of Badian to professionalize its tourism workforce and align local tourism operations with national standards. Through proper training, registration, and accreditation, mountain guides are expected to further enhance their knowledge and skills in visitor assistance, environmental stewardship, destination interpretation, safety, and responsible tourism practices.
The application of the trained guides will undergo evaluation and approval by the Department of Tourism. Once approved, the successful applicants will be formally accredited as DOT-recognized tourism professionals.
For the Badian Tourism Office, supporting the guides does not end with training. The municipality remains committed to providing opportunities for local tourism stakeholders to gain appropriate certifications and recognition, while ensuring that visitors experience Badian through knowledgeable, responsible, and professionally trained local guides.
This initiative also forms part of Badian’s broader efforts to develop a sustainable mountain tourism circuit that empowers local communities while protecting the natural and cultural resources that make the municipality a premier tourism destination.
Through the partnership between the LGU Badian, the Badian Tourism Office, the Department of Tourism, and the local mountain guide community, Badian continues to move toward a tourism industry that is community-driven, professionally managed, safety-oriented, and sustainable.
From training to accreditation, Badian continues to invest in its people—the heart of its tourism industry.
