The Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office (MTCAO) joins the Poo Kinablangan Aqua Developers’ Association (POKADA) in celebrating the Opening and Blessing of the POKADA Floating Cottage held today, August 18, 2026, in Purok Bulalo, Poo, Brgy. Kinablangan, Baganga, Davao Oriental.

This initiative reflects the community’s efforts to develop sustainable tourism experiences while creating opportunities for local enterprises and communities.

The Municipality of Baganga supports this initiative and remains committed to promoting community-led tourism projects that strengthen local livelihoods and showcase Baganga’s natural beauty and tourism potential. 🌴🌊

The Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office of Baganga participated as an exhibitor during the JCI Señoritas Davao Induction and Turnover Ceremonies at Mindanao Media Hub, Bangkal, Davao City.

The participation provided an opportunity to showcase Baganga’s tourism destinations, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities, in line with the municipality’s ongoing efforts to promote Baganga as a tourism destination and strengthen its visibility among various organizations and stakeholders.

📍 DAY 2 | Underwater Reef Assessment and Biodiversity Monitoring in Barangay Saoquegue, Baganga, Davao Oriental

Continuing its efforts to strengthen marine conservation and support sustainable tourism development, the Local Government Unit of Baganga, through the Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (MTCAO), in partnership with CENRO Baganga and DENR Region XI, conducted Day 2 of its field assessment in the coastal waters of Barangay Saoquegue, Baganga, Davao Oriental.

The activity focused on underwater reef assessment and biodiversity monitoring to evaluate the condition of coral reef ecosystems, document marine habitats and associated species, and gather scientific data essential for conservation planning and ecosystem management. The findings will contribute to evidence-based strategies for protecting Baganga's marine resources while promoting responsible and sustainable tourism.

Through sustained collaboration among partner agencies, the Municipality of Baganga remains committed to safeguarding its coastal and marine ecosystems for the benefit of present and future generations.

Monitoring, Detailed Assessment, and Documentation of the Ban-ao Sea Forest Marine Protected Area

The Local Government Unit of Baganga, through the Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (MTCAO), in partnership with CENRO Baganga and DENR Region XI, successfully conducted a One-Day Monitoring, Detailed Assessment, and Documentation of the Ban-ao Sea Forest Marine Protected Area.

The activity involved the comprehensive monitoring, assessment, and documentation of the area's ecological resources, tourism potential, accessibility, and prevailing site conditions. The gathered data will serve as a vital baseline for strengthening conservation initiatives, guiding sustainable tourism development, and enhancing the long-term protection and management of the municipality's coastal and marine ecosystems.

This collaborative undertaking reflects the Municipality of Baganga's steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible tourism through science-based planning, inter-agency collaboration, and the sustainable management of its invaluable natural resources.

Site Assessment Conducted at Sayapo Falls

Baganga, Davao Oriental — The Local Government Unit of Baganga, through the Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (MTCAO), conducted a site assessment of Sayapo Falls in Sitio Mantapay, Barangay Binondo on July 29, 2026, in coordination with the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Binondo, the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR), and the Clan Members.

The activity supports the administration of Mayor Laureano B. Taya, CPA, in ensuring site readiness, visitor safety and security, and sustainable tourism development before destinations are opened to the public.

The Municipal Government of Baganga advises that Sayapo Falls is not yet open to visitors as the site remains under assessment to determine its readiness, accessibility, and compliance with safety standards.

The LGU remains committed to developing tourism destinations that are safe, responsible, and sustainable for the benefit of both visitors and the local community.

Baganga Strengthens Commitment to Safe, Inclusive, and Accessible Tourism

The Department of Tourism Region XI, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Baganga through the Municipal Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, successfully conducted the Barrier-Free Training: Handling Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Child-Safe Tourism on July 29, 2026, at BLARET Hometel.

The training enhanced the capacity of tourism stakeholders to deliver accessible, gender-responsive, and child-safe tourism services, reaffirming Baganga’s commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and secure destination for all.

This initiative reflects the steadfast support of Mayor Hon. Laureano “Lary” B. Taya, CPA, whose leadership continues to champion programs that promote safe spaces for both tourists and tourism stakeholders.

The Municipality of Baganga also extends its sincere gratitude to Department of Tourism Region XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan for her invaluable support and commitment to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and responsible tourism initiatives in the municipality.
