"𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝐹𝒾𝓁𝒾𝓅𝒾𝓃𝑜 𝒾𝓈 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓉𝒽 𝒹𝓎𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒻𝑜𝓇." -𝒩𝒾𝓃𝑜𝓎 𝒜𝓆𝓊𝒾𝓃𝑜

Ninoy Aquino Day is observed every August 21 in the Philippines to honor Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., a leading figure who opposed the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos.

Ninoy was a journalist, public servant, and one of the youngest senators in Philippine history. As a strong critic of martial law and corruption, he was imprisoned for years and later went into exile in the United States.

Despite the dangers, Ninoy returned to the Philippines on August 21, 1983, believing that “the Filipino is worth dying for.” Upon his arrival at the Manila International Airport (now Ninoy Aquino International Airport), he was assassinated — a turning point in Philippine history.

His death awakened the Filipino people, fueling the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986, which eventually restored democracy and ended the Marcos regime.

Today, Ninoy Aquino Day serves as a reminder of his courage, sacrifice, and enduring message of hope, freedom, and democracy for the Filipino people. 🇵🇭
