A lot of hikers have done Manabu. Very few know there's a trail beyond it.

October 24 — Manabu to Patagin, two waterfalls along the way, both still off the map. One hike, no crowds yet.

Php 1,650 per head covers the round-trip van, registration, a guide with you the whole way, a souvenir, an adventure metal tag, and a meal after the hike.

Pick-up points: Balibago (Sta. Rosa), Centro Mall (Cabuyao), SM Calamba, and Turbina.

Only 10 slots. The trail itself can't take more than that yet.

Message us here on the Page, or on WhatsApp at 639062522541, to grab a slot.

As far as we know, nobody's done this whole trail before us. Manabu to Patagin, two waterfalls along the way, one hike.

There was a part where we honestly weren't sure it would still get us to Patagin. We just kept walking.

People from the area have used bits of this trail for a long time. We're just the first ones to walk it start to finish, in one go.

If you've done Manabu before, you know the climb. It's moderate to hard, 3 to 5 out of 9. The forest is thick and wild, not the kind of trail that's been walked flat by thousands of hikers already.

Past Manabu-Malepunyo Peak, it gets harder. Boulder fields, old trees, forest that doesn't get much foot traffic. Nothing here has been cleaned up for tourists. It's still raw.

Hirin Falls comes first. Talon Simbahan Falls a bit further up.

Then the trail ends at Patagin's summit.

The full route: Manabu, Malepunyo, Hirin Falls, Talon Simbahan Falls, Patagin. Two peaks, two waterfalls, one trail — and we're the first to walk it all the way through.

Right now, almost no hikers even know this trail exists.

We took these photos on one of our trips back. Take a look below.

More on how to join this trail soon.

Tourism in the Philippines comes with its challenges.

Long journeys, late departures, inconvenient connecting flights, limited infrastructure, changing weather, and places where things don’t always go as planned.

Balabac is no different. If anything, it can be even more challenging.

That’s why expectations matter. When you know what the journey involves, you’re better prepared to enjoy the place for what it is.

Going to Balabac? A few things are worth knowing before you go.

Balabac is remote, facilities are basic, and weather and sea conditions can affect the trip.

Bring cash for small purchases at sari-sari stores—there are no ATMs on the islands—and come prepared for limited electricity and connectivity.

Save this before your trip.

Most visitors arrive in Balabac on Fridays and weekends.

If your schedule is flexible, Tuesday to Thursday is often the quietest time to visit.

Beaches tend to be less crowded, there are fewer boats around the islands, and it’s easier to appreciate the changing sandbars and shallow lagoons at your own pace.

It’s one of the simplest ways to experience a quieter side of Balabac.

Most tour pages leave this part out.

We’re telling you now, because Balabac is worth it anyway.

This is Onok Island on a Tuesday.

No queue for the shot.

Most people haven’t heard of Balabac.

That’s kind of the point.

Would you make the trip?
