Riding the momentum of a successful season, the Barangay Lower Becerril Basketball Team is geared up for another championship run as it joins the Barangay Granada Fiesta League on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

The annual tournament will feature the best basketball squads from the municipality's 13 barangays, setting the stage for another exciting battle for supremacy on the hardwood.

Backed by Barangay Captain Lloyd Fuentes, the Lower Becerril cagers are looking to sustain their winning form and build on the consistency they have displayed throughout the year.

The team opened its 2026 campaign on a high note after capturing the prestigious Boljoon Summer League Championship. Lower Becerril showcased its championship pedigree by defeating the formidable SAYC Team of Barangay Poblacion in the title showdown.

Their rivalry with Poblacion continued in the San Antonio Fiesta League, where Lower Becerril once again advanced to the championship round. However, this time, the squad fell short as Poblacion emerged victorious, denying Lower Becerril a second crown of the season.

Despite the setback, the team remains one of the hottest squads in Boljoon basketball, boasting back-to-back finals appearances and proving it can compete with the municipality's elite teams.

With confidence running high and team chemistry continuing to improve, Lower Becerril aims to make another deep playoff run in the Granada Fiesta League while keeping its eyes firmly set on an even bigger stage—the annual Boljoon Town Fiesta League scheduled to tip off in September 2026.

PMDS Triumphs at First Campfranco Sinulog Showdown 2026

The First Campfranco Sinulog Showdown 2026 concluded on a high note, earning praise from organizers, participants, and residents alike as a successful and well-implemented cultural event, highlighted by the dominant victory of the Patronage of Mary Development School (PMDS) representing Barangay Poblacion.

Held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Campfranco Court in Barangay Lower Becerril, the Sinulog Showdown was staged as part of the fiesta celebration of Sitio Campfranco in honor of Señor Santo Niño. As the sitio’s first-ever Sinulog competition among high school students, the event was widely regarded as a milestone for youth engagement, cultural preservation, and community unity.

PMDS emerged as overall champion, winning the Grand Prize and a ₱30,000 cash award, after impressing judges and spectators with their dynamic choreography, discipline, and strong expression of devotion.

Adding to their remarkable performance, 17-year-old Michellee Rose Vallejos, a Grade 12 HUMSS student, was crowned Festival Queen 2026. Vallejos dedicated her win to Señor Santo Niño, describing the moment as both an honor and an offering of faith.

PMDS also secured Best in Choreography and Best in Street Dancing, earning ₱5,000 for each special award and further affirming their overall excellence.

Boljoon National High School, representing Barangay Lower Becerril, placed First Runner-Up with a ₱25,000 cash prize and won Best in Andas, while Lunop National High School claimed Second Runner-Up, taking home ₱20,000.

In a post-event assessment, Barangay Lower Becerril Captain Lloyd Fuentes described the Sinulog Showdown as a successful pilot activity, citing smooth coordination, strong participation from schools, and overwhelming community support.

“The first Campfranco Sinulog Showdown proved that our community is ready to host meaningful cultural activities. It was orderly, engaging, and deeply rooted in faith,” Fuentes said, adding that lessons learned from this year’s event will be used to further improve future celebrations.

Residents and visitors echoed the sentiment, noting that the event not only showcased talent but also strengthened devotion, unity, and pride among Campfranco’s youth and families.

With its positive reception and successful ex*****on, the First Campfranco Sinulog Showdown 2026 is now being considered a foundation for an annual cultural tradition, reinforcing Campfranco’s commitment to honoring Señor Santo Niño through faith, culture, and community participation.
