The Boracay-Caticlan Sustainable Development Council (BCSDC) recently concluded their 2nd council meeting at The Tides Boracay, Boracay Island, attended by officials and stakeholders, including APTO, BFI and PCCI. Based on the outcomes discussed during the meeting, Aklan Governor Joen Miraflores has announced several updates for entry to Boracay, as well as changes on some activities in the island
Here are the key developments, as posted by Gov. Joen on his Facebook:
1. Relaxing of tourist requirements. No hotel booking voucher needed at the port of entry
2. Opening of beach. Allowing beach beds and umbrellas for tourists to enjoy
3. Extending night swimming time to 9pm
4. Allowing food and drinks at party boats
5. Suspend 20k fee for foreign tour guides
6. Continuous dialogue on having a unified ticket on jetty port
During the BCSDC meeting, discussions covered various service-related topics, such as protocols for foreign tourists at Kalibo International Airport, requests for the removal of requirements for accredited hotel pre-booking QR Codes, proposals on environmental fees, updates on Boracay's carrying capacity, concerns of Aklanon tourists with one-day transactions, and more.
