The issuance of said resolution aligns with Borongan City Mayor Dayan Agdaโs firm opposition to any potential mineral mining activity in the city, as expressed by the local chief executive in the series of meetings held on DENR-MGBโs announcement of several areas in Borongan being โopen for mining applicationโ.
SP Resolution No. 59, s. 2025 urges the DENR-MGB and other relevant agencies to โdeny or revoke any permits or applications for mining operations that threaten the ecological integrity of the city.โ
It further enjoins all barangays, civil society organizations, church groups, youth, and other stakeholders to โremain vigilant and united in protecting the natural environment of Borongan for the benefit of current and future generations.โ
