The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) convened its 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting to sharpen local disaster response and strengthen community resilience.

Key department heads, barangay leaders, and council members gathered to review recent response operations and evaluate current risk reduction strategies. The discussion focused heavily on preparedness for the upcoming typhoon season, inspecting early warning systems, and finalizing upcoming mitigation projects across the municipality.

Through unified planning and proactive coordination, the MDRRMC continues its commitment to keeping every barangay safe and disaster-ready.

๐Ÿค STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY NUTRITION & EDUCATION IN BURGOS!

The Local Government Unit of Burgos, led by Mayor Emmanuel Arcena, warmly welcomed representatives from Calls Over Ridges Philippines (COR PH) for a courtesy visit to discuss key developments in our shared commitment to youth welfare and nutrition.

Building on their ongoing initiativesโ€”including the presentation of their community cookbook last yearโ€”COR PH presented the Kusina ng Kultura during today's visit. This proposed infrastructure component under the COR PH Nutrition Program at San Mateo Elementary School will serve as a dedicated workspace for school feeding initiatives, reinforcing local community ownership and fighting malnutrition among our school-age children.

Looking ahead, the LGU and COR PH are preparing for a pre-construction conference on September 26, 2026, where the project will be officially launched and formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Calls Over Ridges Philippines for their continued support, dedication, and partnership in advancing inclusive, sustainable, and accessible education across Siargao Island.
