๐ HOW TO VISIT MT. KANYAGTIW PEAK
Municipality of Sison, Surigao del Norte
STEP 1: Secure a Communication/Request Letter
A request letter for trekking activities must be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to the intended climb, addressed to:
โข HON. LEICESTER P. FETALVERO โ Municipal Mayor
โข HON. DAKULA JOENIL B. MASANA โ Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR)
The letter must indicate the following:
โข Date and time of trekking activity
โข Name of the club/organization/group
โข Complete names of participants/hikers
โข Contact person and contact number
Note: Approval from both the Municipal Mayor and the IPMR is required to ensure the safety and security of hikers and to properly coordinate with the indigenous community within the area.
STEP 2: How to Get There
From Butuan City to Sison, Surigao del Norte:
โข Proceed to the Butuan City Integrated Bus Terminal (Langihan).
โข Ride a Bachelor Express bus or van-for-hire bound for Surigao City.
โข Inform the driver/conductor to drop you off at Sison Municipal Hall or Sison town proper (Poblacion).
STEP 3: Registration and Coordination
Before the trek, hikers are required to secure Authorization Letter from the Office of the Municipal Mayor.
Fees:
โข Environmental Fee โ Php 500.00
โข Tour Guide Fee โ Php 1,000.00 per 5 hikers
Hiring a local guide is mandatory since Mt. Kanyagtiw is considered a major climb. Local guides are highly knowledgeable about the trail and are essential for safety and proper navigation.
STEP 4: Sison Town Proper to Jump-Off Point
From the town proper, coordinate with local guides or barangay officials for transportation arrangements going to the jump-off point in Barangay Gacepan. Travel time may vary depending on weather and road conditions.
