The Philippine Dwarf Kingfisher
Philippine dwarf kingfisher is a species of bird in the family Alcedinidae that is endemic to the Philippines found in the islands of Luzon, Polillo Islands, Catanduanes, Basilan, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. Its natural habitat is tropical moist lowland forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
The pictured bird was in a possession of a young boy who claimed that the juvenile bird fell from a tree and cannot yet fly. Only belatedly did I realize that the bird was actually an adult and must have been captured to be made as a pet.
