Day 5:
Summiting Mt. Piapayungan was just halfway through. We have to go home, and it was still a long way home. Not backtrack tho! Rab-Rab bound, at bugang highway 🥲

Day 4:
Basking in the sun first thing in the morning as we had clearing around the shoulders of Mt. Piapayungan. We can see her fellow mountains in the range such as Mt. Makaturing and Mt. Latukan, including her isolated plain, Rab-Rab. Multiple lakes were spotted too. We're now higher than most parts of the Sleeping Lady mountain range.

Still, unli bugang pa 'rin. But as we persevere through, we transition to her beautiful mossy forests. See pics until the end ;)

Good morning from the shoulder of Mt. Piapayungan!

1st pic - facing west is other part of the Sleeping Lady mountain range and Cotabato bay.

2nd pic - facing north is Lake Lanao and the mountain range of Bacolod (Lanao del Sur).

3rd pic - facing east is Kitanglad mountain range, furthermore, Mt. Balatukan.

First of all:
We are lucky to have this well coordinated climb. In the meantime, Mt. Piapayungan is still NOT open to the public for leisure climbing. It is CLOSED to the public.

Day 3:
After two days of slow ascend with noodle-like trails, we have covered approx. 20 clicks. We're slowly out of the rainforest and entering the headroom clearing. However, with towering bugang/nappier grass. Unli bugang!

Day 2:
Deep into the hunters' trails and unearthing bullet casings & shotgun shells for deer hunting. There are also multiple signages being left by the military addressed to rebels to surrender, leaving instructions and hotline contact numbers. Most of all, we passed by the refuge house and burial site of Hashim Salamat, who is the founder and leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F).

Yes, we climbed Mt. Piapayungan last year, which is part from the top 10 highest mountains of the Philippines. A seven-day odyssey traversing in the Sleeping Lady mountain range. We will be releasing a 7-part daily photo of the adventure soon!
