As under the primary tourism enterprises (PTEs) in Catbalogan City with newly accredited and renewed accreditation issued by the Department of Tourism Regional Office VIII (DOT RO8), congratulations to the following ‘Mabuhay Accommodations’ as accredited establishments categorized under PTE:

Under RA 9595 or the ‘Tourism Act of 2009’, all primary tourism enterprises (PTEs) shall be required to obtain an accreditation from DOT as to the quality of their facilities and standard of services. PTEs include accommodation establishments, travel and tour services, tourist land/water/air transport operators, MICE organizers and venues.

On the other hand, accreditation is voluntary for secondary tourism enterprises (STEs). It certifies that a tourism-related establishment meets minimum standards for business operations. The Department of Tourism (DOT) encourages secondary tourism enterprises to apply for accreditation.

Benefits and incentives for accredited accommodation and restaurants include endorsement to COMELEC for exemption from liquor ban during election-related events; endorsement to embassies and travel trade associations for utilization of establishment’s facilities and services; being prioritized for DOT training programs; and Technical / Security / Facilitation Support or Assistance.

Newly accredited and renewed accreditation certificates were recently distributed among secondary tourism enterprises (STEs) in Catbalogan City as issued by the Department of Tourism Regional Office VIII (DOT RO8).

Congratulations to the following accredited establishments categorized as restaurant under the STE:

Benefits and incentives for accredited accommodation and restaurants include endorsement to COMELEC for exemption from liquor ban during election-related events; endorsement to embassies and travel trade associations for utilization of establishment’s facilities and services; being prioritized for DOT training programs; and Technical / Security / Facilitation Support or Assistance.

𝙈𝙜𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙨𝙬𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙘𝙞𝙪𝙙𝙖𝙙, 𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖 𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙖𝙝𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙜𝙪𝙙 𝙞𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙜!

The Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture & Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC) convened earlier today, February 20, 2025 at Bodega Skol, Shell Diversion Road for the 1st Quarter Joint Council Meeting.

As called for by City Mayor Dexter Uy, the Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) facilitated the said meeting and agenda discussed were on updates of implementation on tourism development and culture and arts program; the completed tourism and cultural heritage master development plan; confirmation of participation to 2025 Manaragat Festival; approval of the 2026 Annual City Tourism Plan and 2026 Annual City Culture and Arts Plan; and upcoming schedules of trainings and activities.

Apart from the said discussions, the representative from DTI Samar shared on how the creative industries in Catbalogan City especially with Manaragat Festival, can utilize the existing programs of the government through various agencies especially with the enactment of RA 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.

It was agreed during the council meeting that CTCAIO will facilitate the registration and accreditation of local choreographers together with the guidelines of such apart from the ongoing registry of creative industries of the office.

The meeting was also coincided with the 2025 National Arts Month (NAM) this February as the city conducts several activities and trainings towards developing artistic excellence and showcasing the diversity of Catbaloganon talent and cultural heritage.
