Carrie Marcelo Becomes the 316th Finisher of PH82 Journey

Carrie Marcelo, a 45-year-old civil servant from Guiguinto, Bulacan, has officially completed her journey of visiting all 82 provinces of the Philippines, becoming the 316th finisher of the PH82 challenge.

Her travel story began in February 2019, when she set foot in Ilocos Sur, the first province she visited in her provincial journey. Years later, she reached a significant milestone after completing her final destination, Camarines Norte, during her trip on May 16–17, 2026, successfully completing the list of all Philippine provinces.

Although she had already been traveling, the idea of completing PH82 only became part of her goals in May 2024. While in Masbate, she met a fellow traveler who introduced her to the challenge. What started as a simple conversation eventually became a mission that inspired her to explore the country more deeply and purposefully.

For Carrie, traveling is more than simply reaching destinations. She believes that travelling is learning to embrace change and expecting the unexpected. Every province visited became a lesson, every journey became a story, and every experience added meaning to her life.

Her journey, however, carried a deeper significance beyond tourism and adventure. Diagnosed at an early age with diabetes, hormonal issues, and other related comorbidities, physical activities had always been difficult. Frequent trips to hospitals and limited mobility affected not only her physical condition but also her emotional and social well-being, often leading to low self-esteem.

Travel slowly transformed her life. The transition from being a civil servant who spent long hours seated during weekdays into becoming an adventure seeker during weekends and holidays opened new possibilities. Through travel, she found strength, confidence, and renewed purpose.

Today, her PH82 completion stands not only as a personal achievement but also as a testament to resilience and determination. Carrie hopes that her journey will inspire others who may feel weak, afraid, or limited by circumstances.

As she shares: “May my journey be an inspiration for those who are afraid and feeling frail, for with courage and determination, no obstacle is high enough to restrain us from fulfilling our dreams.” Her story proves that sometimes the greatest journeys are not only measured by the places reached, but by the battles overcome along the way.
