Dear Valued Travellers,

Kindly note on Air Asia - Travel Restriction on Power Banks ‼️

Dear Guest,

AirAsia is dedicated to the safety and comfort of all passengers. To maintain the highest safety standards and reduce risks related to lithium battery incidents, we have implemented strict regulations for the carriage and use of power banks on all AirAsia flights. We kindly request all guests to familiarize themselves with and follow these new regulations. Effective 1st April 2025, using or charging of power banks irrespective of the power bank's capacity or certification is strictly prohibited onboard all AirAsia flights. This restriction applies to all flight phases, including boarding, in-flight, and disembarkation.

Power Banks are prohibited from being stored in the overhead compartment storage and must be carried on your person or in the seat pocket in front of you.
These items must be individually packed—either sealed in a plastic or insulated pouch or kept in their original retail packaging to prevent short circuits. Items exceeding 100Wh but within 160Wh require airline approval at the check-in counter. Note: Guests departing from South Korea will receive clearance stickers affixed to the items or their pouches by check-in staff.
All other electronic devices should be switched off before storing them in the overhead compartment.
Charging and using of power banks on board is strictly prohibited. If you notice signs of overheating, swelling, or any unusual symptoms, inform a crew member immediately.
Power banks are strictly not allowed in checked luggage.

INDUSTRY LOOKOUT: MANILA, Philippines — Air travelers may see cheaper fares in June after the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) slashed fuel surcharges to their lowest level on record.

In an advisory issued Wednesday, the CAB downgraded fuel surcharges from Level 4 to Level 3, applying to both domestic and international flights starting June 1.

Under Level 3, domestic passengers will pay between ₱83 and ₱300 in fuel surcharges—down from ₱117 to ₱342 under Level 4. International surcharges will range from ₱273.36 to ₱2,032.54, compared to the previous ₱385.70 to ₱2,867.82.

Fuel surcharges are fees collected by airlines on top of base fares to help offset fuel costs.

Passengers flying to Caticlan, Legazpi, Kalibo and Roxas will be charged ₱133, while those headed to Laoag, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu and Puerto Princesa will pay ₱179. Longer routes like Dumaguete and Siargao carry a ₱234 surcharge, and flights to Davao and Zamboanga cost ₱271.

For international travel, fees start at ₱273.36 for routes to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. Flights to Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia are at ₱378.06, while those to Japan and South Korea reach ₱425.24. Long-haul flights to Australia and the Middle East are charged ₱940.59, and routes to North America and the UK will carry a ₱1,935.75 surcharge.

Local carriers continue to expand capacity. Cebu Pacific expects delivery of seven new aircraft this year after adding 17 in 2024. Philippine Airlines is awaiting 13 Airbus A321neo aircraft from 2026 to 2029.

Top destinations include Japan, Vietnam, Boracay, and Siargao.
