INDIGO MOVES CLOSER TO PHILIPPINE FLIGHTS AFTER APPLYING FOR CAB PERMIT

IndiGo has formally applied for a foreign air carrier’s permit in the Philippines as India’s largest airline moves closer to launching direct flights to the country. InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., the company behind IndiGo, filed the application with the Civil Aeronautics Board.

The CAB scheduled a hearing for September 16, 2026, to consider the application. A foreign air carrier’s permit allows an overseas airline to operate foreign air transportation services to and from the Philippines, subject to the required government approvals.

IndiGo has previously expressed interest in operating nonstop flights from India to Manila and Cebu. During discussions with Philippine tourism officials in 2025, the airline said the Philippines was among the international markets it was studying as it expanded its fleet and overseas network.

The airline has yet to announce final Philippine routes, frequencies, aircraft types, or launch dates. The permit application means IndiGo has moved into the regulatory process needed before it can operate scheduled services in the country.

IndiGo operates more than 2,300 daily flights and serves more than 90 domestic destinations and over 40 international destinations. The airline continues to expand outside India as new aircraft join its fleet.

MANILA, 03 July 2026 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reminds the public to use only valid, authentic, and officially-issued identification documents when applying for various consular services. Applicants should ensure that all their documents, including identification documents, contain accurate and truthful information and are consistent with official records, in order to facilitate the proper processing of their applications.

The use, submission, or presentation of fake, altered, forged, or fraudulently obtained identification documents may constitute violations of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act No. 11983 (New Philippine Passport Act), and may result in the denial of application and the filing of appropriate administrative, civil, and/or criminal charges.

Applicants are advised to verify the validity of their identification documents before submission and to immediately report any loss, theft, or unauthorized use of their personal identification credentials to the appropriate authorities.

The cooperation of all applicants is essential in ensuring the integrity of public documents.
