FORT SAN PEDRO

As Heritage Month comes to a close, we celebrate not only the rich history of Fort San Pedro but also the spirit, creativity, and cultural pride that continue to shape Cebu. ✨

This month became even more meaningful as we marked the 461st Founding Anniversary of Fort San Pedro and proudly reopened our Gallery after six years with two special exhibits: β€œMUGNA SA KAMOT”, featuring Cebuano artistry from the heart of the UNESCO Creative City of Design, in collaboration with HABLONUEVO, and β€œBONGBONG SA PANUMDOMAN” by the Cuerpo de Guardia exhibit team, showcasing the vibrant history of Cebu and Fort San Pedro.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Cultural and Historical Affairs Office, Department of General Services, Department of Engineering, and Parks and Playground, F8 Photo, UNESCO, curated by Miss Diane Lane Fulguirinas and Mr. Orland James Romarate and also the products by Cebuano designer Mr. Dexter Z. Alazas of Hablonuevo for their unwavering support in bringing these exhibits to life. Special thanks as well to MAYOR Nestor D. Archival for his continued dedication to preserving and promoting our heritage and culture.

May we continue to honor the stories of our past while inspiring future generations to cherish Cebu’s rich cultural legacy. πŸ’™

β€œFort San Pedro warmly welcomes everyone to the Cuerpo de Guardia Gallery for the showcase of MGA BONGBONG SA PANUMDOMAN: The Story of Fort San Pedro exhibit, in collaboration with the Cultural and Historical Affairs Office and F8 Photo.

The Exhibit Center celebrated its grand opening last May 13, 2026, featuring the rich and enduring history of Fort San Pedro β€” from its important role during the early Spanish settlement in Cebu to its many transformations and uses throughout different historical periods. Curated by Diane Lane Fulguirinas, the exhibit brings together photographs, stories, memories, and historical narratives that reflect the identity and cultural heritage of Cebuano history.

More than a historical showcase, MGA BONGBONG SA PANUMDOMAN serves as a bridge between the past and present, honoring the traditions, resilience, artistry, and collective memories of the Cebuano people. Through culture, heritage, and visual storytelling, the exhibit highlights the importance of preserving historical landmarks and passing on the legacy of Fort San Pedro to future generations.
We invite everyone to visit and experience the timeless stories, cultural treasures, and historical significance of Fort San Pedro.”
