PHILIPPINE PASSPORT JUMPS 3 PLACES IN GLOBAL RANKINGS: MID-2025 UPDATE
The Philippine passport has risen to 72nd place in the Henley Passport Index's mid-2025 update, climbing three spots from earlier this year and five places higher than its 2022 rank. This steady improvement reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts and expanded visa-free agreements that continue to boost the global mobility of Filipino citizens.
As of July 2025, Filipino passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 68 countries and territories, according to Gulf News. This includes popular destinations in Asia (e.g., Singapore, Israel, Indonesia, Taiwan), Oceania (e.g., Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu), and Africa (e.g., Morocco, Rwanda).
In addition, eTA and Visa on Arrival options are now available for travelers heading to countries like Kenya, Nepal, Madagascar, and the Maldives. Though major destinations like the US, UK, Schengen Area, and Australia still require visas, this steady climb in ranking is a significant win for Filipino global access.
The Henley Passport Index remains one of the most authoritative rankings globally, analyzing 199 passports and 227 travel destinations based on real-time visa information.
