Kapag may mahal tayo sa buhay na nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa, madalas nating hinihintay ang kanyang padala. Pero kapag dumating ang panahong hindi na niya kayang magtrabaho, may ligtas at maayos ba siyang mauuwian?

Ito ang mabigat na tanong na iniiwan ng ibinahaging kuwento tungkol kay Kuya Ramon.

Ayon sa post ni Aileen Mariquit Sombise, ang 61-anyos na dating OFW ay nagtrabaho umano sa Saudi Arabia sa loob ng 21 taon. Sa mahabang panahong iyon, nagpadala siya ng pera sa kanyang pamilya at tumulong sa pagpapaaral ng isang pamangkin.

Dalawampu’t isang taon ang malaking bahagi ng buhay ng isang tao. Sa kaso ni Kuya Ramon, mga taong inilaan iyon sa pagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa habang tumutulong sa mga mahal niya sa buhay sa Pilipinas.

Ngunit ayon sa salaysay, kinailangan niyang umuwi dahil sa kanyang edad at problema sa paa. Sa kanyang pagbabalik, napunta umano siya sa kalagayang walang maayos na matutuluyan.

Masakit isipin na matapos ang mahabang panahong pagtatrabaho, pati ang isang ligtas na mapagpapahingahan ay problema pa rin.

Hindi nakasaad ang buong detalye ng kanyang kinita, naging gastusin, naipon, o kalagayan ng kanyang pamilya. Kaya hindi makatarungang isisi agad ang lahat sa kawalan ng paghahanda o humusga kung sino ang nagpabaya.

Ngunit ang kuwentong ito ay mahalagang paalala: ang taong matagal nating naging sandalan ay maaari ring dumating sa puntong kailangan nang alalayan.

Ang mga OFW ay may sariling pangangailangan, pagod, at pangambang dala.
