✈️ Travel Tax Goes Digital with eTravel
Paying the travel tax (₱1,620) has always been part of flying out of the Philippines, but let’s be real—there’s always that one passenger holding up the line because they forgot. Yes, you could pay online or when booking your ticket, but without a proper reminder, it’s easy to miss… until now.
TIEZA (Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority), the agency in charge of collecting travel tax, has officially integrated the process into the eGovPH Super App and eTravel System. That means you can now settle your travel tax directly in the app—fast, secure, and hassle-free. No more hunting for the right website or lining up at airport counters.
Here’s how it works: when you fill out your eTravel requirements, the system now prompts you to declare and pay your travel tax before generating your QR code. No payment = no QR code = no check-in.
This digital upgrade, rolled out in late August, is the result of a collaboration between the DOT, TIEZA, and DICT. It’s a big step toward making travel smoother, paperless, and more efficient for every outbound passenger.
