One of the most historic cycling events in the Philippines, the MPTC Tour of Luzon, traversed the scenic route from Candon City to Cervantes, passing through the municipalities of Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz, Tagudin, and Suyo in Ilocos Sur.

Carrying the theme, “A Heritage in Motion,” the event highlighted not only the promotion of sports tourism across Luzon, but also the rich heritage and history embedded along its routes — including the historic grounds of the Battle of Bessang, where brave warriors fought valiantly for the freedom of our Motherland. Their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire generations today.

The Municipal Government of Cervantes and the DENR-PAMB of Bessang warmly welcomed all participants and organizers through the unwavering efforts of the municipal officials headed by Mayor Atty. Mary Joyce Maggay, represented by SBM Rodolfo Gaburno, together with municipal employees, national government agencies, and the host barangay officials.

The event was further graced by the support and participation of SPM Ericson Singson, Candon City Mayor Eric Singson, Suyo Municipal Mayor Mario Subagan, and Quirino Municipal Mayor Atty. Gemarose Gomintong.

-Please 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 and allow extra time for alternate routes.
- 𝗡𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 will be allowed along the affected road during the closure period.
-Motorists are advised to 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 and follow the directions of traffic marshals and law enforcers on duty.
- 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗢 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 along the race route to ensure the safety of cyclists and spectators.
-Pedestrians and spectators are reminded to 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 and avoid crossing the road while the race is in progress.
- 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘆 near the event area and be alert for race officials, cyclists, and support vehicles.

It's truly heartening to witness the Provincial Government and NCIP coming together to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ilocos Surians through events like these at Quirino Stadium, Vigan City.
