One of the bidders for the municipality’s Robusta coffee is none other than the Honorable Municipal Mayor of Santa, Ilocos Sur, Atty. JJ Bueno III, who sourced coffee from Libang—the home of the Northern Luzon Coffee Quality Competition 2026 Top 7 Winner.

This reflects the growing quality and potential of the coffee produced by our local farmers. It demonstrates that coffee from Cervantes can compete with the best in Northern Luzon and gain recognition beyond our municipality.

This achievement was made possible through the assistance and technical support of the Department of Trade and Industry DTI, together with the support of the Municipal Government of Cervantes, headed by Atty. Joyce Maggay, the Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Coffee Growers of Libang. Their continued efforts in promoting agricultural diversification are creating additional sources of income through Tourism Integration and livelihood opportunities for our communities.

Great Find at Mt. Kimat! 🦅⛰️

Thank you for visiting Mt. Kimat and for sharing your wonderful wildlife encounter.

We would like to clarify that the bird of prey spotted during the hike was initially identified differently. After reviewing additional photographs and consulting bird experts from the Regional Bird Guide Team and a Birdwatching Trainer, the bird has been confirmed as a Juvenile Rufous-bellied Hawk-Eagle.

This remains an exciting and significant sighting, as the Rufous-bellied Hawk-Eagle is classified as a Near Threatened species, making every documented encounter valuable for conservation and biodiversity awareness.

Our mountain ranges and forested landscapes provide important habitats and feeding grounds for various bird species and wildlife. Nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers, photographers, and hikers are invited to explore Cervantes and experience its rich biodiversity firsthand.
