Dalaguete ang Haringganis sa Habagatang Sugbo

Dalaguete ang Haringganis sa Habagatang Sugbo Tididit!! Welcome bai!! I am Dalaguete (refer to how you say Dumaguete when pronouncing my name)

Originally, they say I was named UNAB.

I was later renamed after a local variety of Balete Tree, a ficus species in the taxonomy of Kingdom Plantae... Cebuanos call this tree Dalakit or Dakit... Like other towns, the naming happened when a Spaniard came to ask for my name, and because of the language barrier, blah blah blah... that stuff... I was named after a tree near Obong Spring....

We call ourselves, DALAGUETNON.....
I was bor

n in the year 1711 (300 this 2011)... I started as a visita or barrio of Carcar in the year 1690, but I was established as a parish with a local government of my own on 1711...

I am 85 km. south of the City of Cebu...

I comprise 33 local government units called barangay, 10 coastal, 7 midland, and 16 upland...

The municipality of Argao bounds me in the north, Alcoy in the South, Badian in the west and Bohol Strait in the east...

Type 3 rainfall classification...

Soil is clay loam...

Farming is great, thus, I am dubbed as THE VEGETABLE BASKET OF THE VISAYAS with Barangay Mantalongon in the upland as THE SUMMER CAPITAL OF CEBU...

I have 2 hospitals, numerous clinics, commercial centers, internet cafes, great resorts, private and public schools, fire stations, utiility vehicles and ambulances plus many more QUALIFIYING ME AS A FIRST CLASS MUNICIPALITY...

I WOULD LIKE MY COMMUNITY TO EMBRACE HISTORY, PROMOTE CULTURE, PRESERVE NATURE, AND FOSTER PRIDE OF HERITAGE IN A PLACE CALLED DALAGUETE...

MAMISTA TA BAI!!!

No, we don’t say “kalatkat sa balongbong” because we don't arbitrarily add L in words. The title in quotation marks is the ridiculous overgeneralization of how Dalaguetnons speak while retaining the L in words misconstrued as adding L. The author only utilized this line for its catchy absurdity, lethal ignorance, and exaggerated assumption.
