From Davao City, it's more or less a 7-hour travel, depending on your speed. We departed at 3 am and had a few stops for toilet break and picked up another family in Monkayo. We arrived at 10:30 am and it was already scorching hot!

There's 143 steps down to reach the lagoon, an important detail which was not mentioned on most blogs I've read when I researched about the place, as it is not suitable for our group with seniors and small kids.

Swimming area and cottages are a bit far. If you are not an athelic person (like me 😅), you will need to catch your breath a few times.

No signal for TNT and Smart as well.

For young ones and dabarkads, the best time to visit to see the "laswit" or the splash is between Nov to Feb.

Witnessed the legendary "asong gubat" or Philippine Forest Dog during our trip to Nabunturan.

Asong gubat are known for their agility, adaptability, and survival instincts. Their sharp catlike claws enables them to climb trees and even hunt cobras.

Thier breed is known to be the purest bloodlines as they do not breed with other dogs.

In addition to their uniqueness is their appearance. They have a dark brown, brindle patterns similar to a tiger.

Lumads in Bukidnon have an oral mythology about the asong gubat that they had passed down for generations. It is said that if you hurt an asong gubat, you will be cursed, and if you kill one, your entire family will be cursed.

Whether the lore is true or not, I think we should all respect any dogs regardless of their breed.

Always been dreaming to see a beautiful sunrise. Never thought it was just an hour away from our hometown in Davao City.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The general public is reminded to check the Certificate of Authority to Operate (CAO) or Provisional Cert of Authority to Operate (PCAO) before booking accommodations or events in hotels to avoid inconvenience.

Event organizers and Event venues should also have updated Business Permits and Tourism Licences unless it is a private residence. Special Mayors Permit for events is a must.
