Before travelling, always remember to check: BLOWBAGETS 🚘
B – Battery
Check the battery’s charge, terminals, and wiring for corrosion or looseness.
L – Lights
Inspect all lights: headlights, tail lights, brake lights, signal lights, hazard lights and interior lights.
O – Oil
Check engine oil level and condition (also consider other essential fluids like transmission or brake fluid if included in your checklist).
W – Water
Check coolant level in the radiator and reservoir; also windshield washer fluid.
B – Brake
Inspect brake fluid level and test brake pedal feel and stopping power.
A – Air
Check tire pressure and condition of all tires (including spare).
G – Gas
Make sure there is enough fuel for the trip.
E – Engine
Check for any leaks, unusual noises, or loose belts/hoses.
T – Tire
Look for correct inflation (again), tread depth, and any damage.
(Some schools overlap this with “Air,” but it’s often repeated for emphasis.)
S – Self
Ensure you, the driver, are physically and mentally fit to drive—well-rested and alert.
