DONSOL, SORSOGON — It’s a banner day for eco-tourism in the Bicol region! The Donsol Tourism Office officially confirmed the sighting of three whale sharks (locally known as Butanding) during early morning tours today, February 28, 2026.

Lucky travelers who took to the water at dawn were treated to a rare spectacle as three of these massive, filter-feeding sharks graced the bay simultaneously. The sightings mark a high point for this year’s season, proving once again why Donsol remains the premier destination for ethical, non-intrusive whale shark interactions.
