DOT CELEBRATES AS PALAWAN RECLAIMS BEST ISLAND IN THE WORLD CITATION

The Department of Tourism (DOT) today celebrates the hailing of Palawan as it reclaims the Best Island in the World title by renowned travel publication, Travel + Leisure.

“Palawan reclaimed its rightful place in the World’s Best Awards. The citation as the Best Island in the World is all the more important because this is voted upon by the readers of the prominent Travel + Leisure (T+L) magazine,” said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

Puyat recently checked the readiness of Palawan, now a four-time winner of the world’s best island award.

Travel + Leisure writer Sara Clemence said, “though it’s difficult to reach from many parts of the world, once travelers get there they can dive in World War II wrecks, explore old-growth rain forests, and paddle one of the world’s longest subterranean rivers at Puerto Princesa”.

“The landscape and scenery are just gorgeous. It offers the most beautiful beaches, resorts, and scenery anywhere,” the travel magazine quoted a fan describing Palawan.

“It’s wonderful to see that our rehabilitation and sustainable development efforts last year, especially in El Nido and Coron, were well-received by tourists everywhere,” added Puyat.

Another popular destination in the Philippines, Boracay, made it to No. 14 in T+L’s World Best Island list and fifth in Asia this year.

This is the third citation reaped by the Philippines since community quarantines were enforced in various parts of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Forbes magazine earlier ranked the Philippines among the seven countries “that have the potential to become a major tourist destination in a post-COVID world’. Last month, Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) cited the Hidden Beach in El Nido, Palawan, as one of the 30 Best Beaches in the World.

Update regarding Covid cases in Palawan. I know we all long to go out to the beach, but with a little more patience we'll get there. Praying for everyone's safety during this trying times. ❤🙏

LOOK || SUMMARY—Here’s a list of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in Palawan as of Wednesday (June 17). There are only three active cases in Puerto Princesa City, which all remained to be asymptomatic and isolated in pre-arranged facilities for the local stranded and overseas Filipino worker (OFW) returnees.

1. Patient No. 1 is a 26-year-old male Australian. He arrived in Palawan on March 7 for a vacation in one of the northern municipalities. He was confirmed COVID-19 positive on March 21, after he had left the country on March 17.

2. Patient No. 2 was a 63-year-old male local resident from Barangay Tanabag, who had no travel history. He was confirmed positive on April 26, after he had died on April 21.

3. Patient No. 3 is an asymptomatic female overseas Filipino worker (OFW) returnee who arrived in Palawan on May 31. She was confirmed COVID-19 on June 3. She remains to be isolated in one of the city’s facilities as she waits for the result of her repeat confirmatory test.

4. Patient No. 4 is a male local stranded individual who arrived from Luzon on June 5 aboard 2Go vessel along with 276 other returnees. He remained asymptomatic and is also isolated in one of the city’s facilities.

5. Patient No. 5 is a male local stranded returnee and was a close contact of Patient No. 4 who also arrived on June 5 batch of returnees.

Palawan and MIMAROPA will no longer be under Community Quarantine effective May 16. The island Paradise of Palawan will soon be open.

Palawan - Inaasahan na magbibigay ng serbisyo ang fastcat ferry na may rutang Batangas-Mindoro-Coron-EL Nido sa iskedyul na 3-4 na beses sa isang linggo.

Ito'y base sa impormasyon mula sa Provincial Information office, ang barkong FastCat M15 na may 360-seating capacity ay may kakayahan na magsakay ng 8 malalaking truck at 40 sasakyan.

Ang pagkakaroon umano ng byahe sa nasabing ruta ay susi upang mas mapadali na ang pagdadala ng mga produktong pang-agrikultura mula sa Palawan patungo sa kamaynilaan at iba pang destinasyon sa rehiyon ng katagalugan.

Malaki naman ang pasasalamat ng pamunuan ng FastCast sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa pamamagitan ni Gob. Jose Ch. Alvarez dahil sa inisyatibo nito ay nabuksan ang posibilidad na maikonekta na ang kamaynilaan sa Palawan sa pamamagitan ng nasabing ruta.

Sa ngayon ay wala pang inilalabas na pormal sa iskedyul ang nasabing ferry kung kailan ito magsisimulang bumiyahe sa mga nabangit na ruta nito sa Palawan.

I AM A TRAVEL OPERATOR

AND THE COVID-19 INFECTED MY WORK

They canceled all kinds of trips, services and contact with people, my work is affected, there are no tourists who want to travel due to fear, lock down and government measures. ..

Unfortunately, THE WORLD and people, free or quarantined doesn't know who is and who isn't infected.

As A TRAVEL OPERATOR, we do not have stable work, but we learn to save every last penny, because it is not known when the next trip will come.

We are usually in limbo, the imbalance is part of the routine.

when it seems that our life is stabilizing, and there is much work, to manage pay the bills, doing what you studied all your life, " " arrives and everything is .

It feels like a bucket of cold water splashed on our backs ... and now I begin to doubt.

- what will happen?
- How long will it last
- What shall we do?

All that remains is to keep hoping, as I know that WE Tour Operators always survive and we will get through.

We the people in travel industry are the ones who transmit the culture, stories and legends, traditions and experiences to a country full of inspiration 🌎

If you are part of Travel Industry , copy and paste. ....... With affection for our authorities, who have not generated adequate policies so that the work has the benefits that some other have.
