Art of Noticing as a Backpacker - Ep 6.

Life has been SO hectic the past month between travelling with my (Tamara) family and Josh’s family that we have completely forgotten to slow down and just appreciate the small moments we have had over the past month and this series 😭

But we are back and bringing you the art of noticing in the Philippines. Such special moments looking back on from watching the people of the phillipines, to sitting around a dinner table with my parents to watching my brothers hang out and seeing how much they have grown since I last saw them.

And before we knew it, this trip was over and I was hugging my family goodbye and this trip was all just a memory again. Cherish those holidays with family and hold onto those little moments with them forever❤️

🫶🏼 send to your loved ones you want to experience the phillipines with and follow us for more special moments from destinations all over the world- let’s get lost together ✌🏼

Things we’ve learnt as travellers and are important lessons everyone should take away with them in their everyday lives.

🫶🏼save this post to come back to when you’re looking for some daily reminders on the road, when you’re going to the supermarket or a catching up with a friend for a cup of coffee.

Further detail on each lesson below:

👋🏻 Don’t be afraid to say hello first. Hello is one word that’s know universally around the whole entire globe, don’t underestimate the power of a simple hello to the people around you, even if you don’t know them.

😊 A smile and a wave goes a long way: We can’t even begin to count the number of times we have woken up, tired, grumpy after a long bus ride, and just want to not talk to anyone. All it takes is a smile from one of the locals and our moods are changed instantly. Your smile can do the same for them.

👯‍♂️ No Matter where you are, people are just people: you realise the longer you travel for, how we’re all not that different from one another. No matter our race, religion, where we are born, we’re all humans seeking the same things from each other - kindness, love and acceptance.

☕️ a good cup or coffee should always be appreciated: coffee isn’t good all over the world we are learning, so when you get a good cup or coffee, hold it, be in the moment and be thankful for that cup. It will make your day so much better.

🥺 Happiness isn’t one size fits all: the more countries we visit the more we realise, happiness looks different for everyone. There are people in the world who appear to have so much less then us from the outside but on the inside may actually be happier then we could ever imagine. It looks different for everyone, as long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.

Follow for more daily words of wisdom of life on the road and let us know what you have learnt, we would love to hear it🥰

❌UNPOPULAR OPINION ON KRABI, THAILAND: Ao Nang beach which is the main beach area most people stay - the beach there actually isn’t that nice 😅

We will admit, being Australian, we’re beach snobs. Our expectation of beaches is very high and we realise travelling around the world just how lucky we are in Aus.

Don’t get us wrong, the views from the beach of the stone cliffs are insane, but we’re not a fan of the thousands of boats coming in and out all day, hearing the loud engines and the crowds.

So if you’re looking for somewhere a lot more peaceful and serene just like in these pics, get yourself a scooter and head 20 minutes north of AO Nang Beach to this beach……

The lost Boys of the Philippines, the lost boys of the best expedition we have ever been on, the lost boys of TAO.

There’s so much we have to share about this experience from the islands, to the views, to the food but the crew and the people are the core of what made this experience so special and before we go into telling you everything you need to know about this expedition, this post is dedicated to the boys who made this the most memorable 5 days of our lives.

They say the people are what makes a place so special and these boys are the reason the Philippines is now one of our fav countries 🥹

Send to your best friend and person you want to watch the sunset with in Krabi, Thailand.

Small moments shared together on a random Tuesday afternoon. This time a year ago, we were working Monday - Fridays feeling more trapped then ever, and now we get to eat corn on the beach and pretend to be flying aeroplanes.

Happy Valentine’s Day my fav human in the world. May we travel the world together, fart in front of each other forever and be the bestest of friends until we die❤️

Don’t forget to tell your person, your friends and family you love them today, especially if you’re on the opposite side of the world to them.

Ep 5 - Art of Noticing as a backpacker in BANGKOK!

Honest opinion- we hated Bangkok the first time we visited, we found it so overwhelming, chaotic and frustrating how spread out it was.

BUT- the second time we visited, we stayed in a completely different area and LOVED IT! We stayed in Phahonyothin 24 Area and it was far enough out of the city that it was quiet but still close enough to everything as it was right on the BTS line and we looooved this area because it felt more local and authentic. The streets were full of locals only, the cheapest food we have found in all of Thailand and had a million little local coffee shops around.

We also came to Bangkok the second time with no plan at all. We had to get our camera fixed and hang around for 5 days waiting for it and during this time, all we did was just walk around with no destination in mind. We loved being able to just sit back, not feel like we had to tick off tourist destinations and watch the world go by. It really opened our eyes to a whole other side of Bangkok.

So the next time you may feel like a place isn’t for you, don’t be so quick to judge. Instead give yourself time to just get lost, don’t have a plan to go to the main tourist hot spots, instead just people watch and enjoy the place for what it truely is.

If you’re coming to Asia soon, we have a complete checklist of everything you need! And it’s free! Just comment checklist and we will send it over to you AND don’t forget to follow us for more raw moments around Asia.

We may not be believers in packing cubes ( if you know us you know) but we are OBSESSED with our tote bag we use regularly for our beach days, cafe days and our backpack from Bagsmart😜🙌🏻

Josh and I literally argue over who gets to use what bag each day that’s how much we love them. The BEST backpacks for carry on luggage, hiking and the tote bags are SO spacious. Weather you’re an office girly and or a beach girly, the tote is SO DOPE.

If you want to look as excited as Tamara with her bag on the beach, check out and the link in our bio for their full collection ✌🏼
