๐ Barangay Bangtinon, Hingyon, Ifugao
According to local accounts, Barangay Bangtinon got its name from the towering bangtinon trees that once grew abundantly in the area.
During the Spanish period, Bangtinon became an important route connecting Kiangan and Banaue after the Spanish army established a trail through the area. Along this route, bangtinon trees flourished from Sitio Pambacan to Sitio Domang and nearby places.
These majestic trees, with their wide branches, served as temporary hiding places for local warriors during times of conflict. Because of the abundance of these trees, the people living in the area came to be known as iBangtinon, meaning "people from the place where the bangtinon trees grow." Over time, the place itself became known as Bangtinonโa name it proudly bears to this day.
Today, Bangtinon continues to preserve its rich history, natural beauty, and the warm hospitality of its people.
