Since the tragic sea incident of August 3, 2019, the Municipality of Buenavista has solemnly observed an annual Fluvial Mass in honor of the lives lost in the 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙨 𝙎𝙚𝙖 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙙𝙮.

This year, the commemorative Mass was once again held at sea, in the very waters where the tragedy occurred, and was officiated by Rev. Canon Edgardo Encarguez.

Families of the victims, survivors, local officials, uniformed personnel, and members of the community gathered in solemn prayer and remembrance, paying tribute to those who perished while reaffirming their shared faith, hope, and unity.

Ngayong buwan ng Agosto, ating ipinagdiriwang ang Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa na may temang:

"Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon."

Ang Wikang Filipino ay nananatiling mahalagang daluyan ng ating kultura, kasaysayan, at pagkakakilanlan. Sa pag-unlad ng makabagong teknolohiya, kabilang ang Artificial Intelligence (AI), lalo nating mapapalawak ang akses sa kaalaman, mapayayaman ang pananaliksik, at maipapasa sa susunod na henerasyon ang ating mayamang pamana at wika.

Sa pagdiriwang na ito, sama-sama nating ipagmalaki, gamitin, at paunlarin ang Wikang Filipino bilang tulay ng pagkakaisa, pagkatuto, at pambansang kaunlaran.

Seven years have passed, yet the pain of August 3, 2019 remains etched in our hearts. On this solemn day, we remember the 31 precious lives that were taken far too soon in the Iloilo–Guimaras Strait Sea Tragedy.

Today, we bow our heads in prayer and reflection, honoring not only the lives that were lost but also the courage of the survivors, the unwavering dedication of the rescuers, and the resilience of a community that found strength in one another during its darkest hours.

May this day remind us to cherish every life, to hold our loved ones a little closer, and to remain united in compassion and hope. As the waters of the Iloilo–Guimaras Strait continue their timeless journey, may they forever carry our prayers, our remembrance, and our promise that those we lost will always be remembered.

We invite everyone to join us for the Fluvial Ceremonial Mass as we remember and pray for our dearly departed, today August 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM at MacArthur's Wharf, Sto. Rosario, Buenavista, Guimaras.
