Noong January 23, 1961, sa bisa ng R.A. 3572, ay ginawang isang nagsasariling Pamahalaang Lokal ang Isla ng Jomalig. Dito nag-umpisa ang pag-ugit sa kasaysayan ng "Municipal Government of Jomalig, Quezon". Noong June 18, 2010, kaalinsabay ng 50th Foundation Day of Jomalig, Quezon ay kinilala bilang โ€œAma ng Bayan ng Jomalig si Kagalang-galang Manuel S. Pinasinayaan ito nina Punong Bayan Rodelo T. T

ena, Ikalawang Punong Bayan Ruben T. Belda, Sr., at Kagalang-galang Kinatawan sa Unang Distrito Mark Enverga. Unang Punong Bayan ng Jomalig si Kagalang-galang Julian Villamater, na namuno mula 1961-1962. Kasalukuyang Punong Bayan si Kagalang-galang Rodelo T.
