I’m going to say something that probably needs to be said more often.

Not everybody deserves the mountains.

There.
I said it.

Because somewhere along the way, hiking stopped being a relationship with nature and became another cheap form of entertainment for people who consume places the same way they consume content.

Fast.
Loud.
Carelessly.
Without gratitude.

You see them everywhere now.

People blasting Bluetooth speakers deep in the forest like silence personally offends them.
Leaving instant noodle wrappers beneath rocks as if the mountain has janitors.
Smoking beside pine trees during dry season.
Carving names onto ancient trees because apparently insecurity now needs permanent documentation.

And then they post captions about β€œhealing.”

Healing.

Meanwhile they leave campsites looking like failed music festivals.

You know what fascinates me?

A lot of these people buy expensive outdoor gear.
They research aesthetics.
They know camera angles.
They know how to pose beside tents.

But somehow they never learned the most basic rule:

Leave no trace.

Which honestly tells you everything.

Because modern culture trained people to perform adventure instead of respecting it.

To many people now, the outdoors is no longer sacred.

It’s just scenery.

A temporary background for self-image.

That’s why they litter without guilt.
Because deep down they don’t see the mountain as alive.
They see it as a product.

A service.

Something existing for their consumption.

And maybe I sound harsh.

But spend enough years outdoors and eventually you grow tired of watching beautiful places slowly turn into landfills decorated with motivational captions.

Especially because the damage is always done by people claiming to β€œlove nature.”

That’s the irony.

Real outdoor people move through forests quietly.
Carefully.
Almost apologetically.

Like guests.

Not owners.

The old hikers understood something many new hikers don’t:

Nature does not need us there.

At all.

The mountain existed long before your drone footage.
Long before your trail-running outfit.
Long before your social media carousel pretending you found enlightenment after one overnight trip.

And it will continue existing long after people like that disappear.

Or at least I hope it will.

Because honestly, some campsites now look less like wilderness and more like evidence of what happens when emotionally empty consumers discover nature without developing respect first.

That’s the real problem.

Not beginners.

Not new hikers.

Ego without awareness.

People wanting the experience of nature without accepting the responsibility that comes with entering it.

People who want beautiful places…

without becoming better humans inside them.

And maybe that’s why some older hikers quietly disappear from popular mountains.

Not because they stopped loving nature.

But because it becomes painful watching sacred places slowly transformed into noisy outdoor shopping malls with better views.

Mayon Volcano holds the Guinness World Records title for the β€œMost Conical Volcano in the World.”
Standing 2,463 meters (8,081 feet) tall and located at approximately 13Β°15β€²24β€³N, 123Β°41β€²58β€³E, Mayon is famous for its almost perfectly symmetrical cone, earning it the nickname β€œThe Perfect Cone” among volcanologists.

It is also the most active volcano in the Philippines, making it one of the country’s most iconic natural landmarks. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Around the world, several volcanoes are also known for their striking cone shapes, such as **Mount Fuji in Japan, Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador, and Shishaldin Volcano in Alaska, USA. However, Mayon remains the most perfectly conical volcano ever recorded.

✨ A true natural wonder and a proud symbol of the Philippines.
