๐ŸŒฟSITE ASSESSMENT AT LAKE MAMBAGONGON AND MIN-EBU CAVE AND CASCADES๐ŸŒฟ

In line with the municipalityโ€™s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and preserving its natural attractions, a site assessment was conducted on October 8โ€“9, 2026, at Lake Mambagongon and Min-Ebu Cave and Cascades in La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

The assessment was conducted by Sir Arnel Pasilan and Ms. Fiona Ampis from the Provincial Tourism Office, together with the support of the Municipal Tourism Office headed by Sir Klent Jayson Castaรฑo.

This activity aims to assess the tourism potential of these natural attractions, identify opportunities for improvement, and support responsible tourism development while ensuring the protection and conservation of our natural heritage.

Through continued collaboration and commitment, we look forward to discovering more of La Pazโ€™s hidden gems and showcasing the beauty and tourism potential of our beloved municipality. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ

Cultural Mapping Orientation and Preliminary Resource Inventory

The Cultural Mapping Orientation and Preliminary Resource Inventory was conducted on August 27, 2026, in preparation for the upcoming Cultural Mapping/Inventory scheduled on September 19โ€“21, 2026, in Barangays Comota and Lydia, La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

The activity was led by Mr. Klent Jayson L. Castaรฑo, Tourism Officer-Designate, and brought together identified resource persons, CNHS teachers and stakeholders to orient them on the cultural mapping process, discuss potential cultural resources, and establish an initial inventory of cultural heritage that will be further documented and validated during the field activity.

This initiative reflects the continued efforts of the Local Government Unit of La Paz headed by Hon. Mayor Michael D. Lim to preserve, document, and promote the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the community. Through cultural mapping, the LGU aims to recognize the people, practices, traditions, stories, places, and tangible and intangible heritage that form an important part of the communityโ€™s identity.

By documenting these cultural resources today, we help ensure that the stories, traditions, and heritage of our people will continue to be remembered, valued, and passed on to future generations.

As we conclude the observance of National Anti-Trafficking Awareness Month (NATAM) 2026, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga Regional Office proudly joins the nationwide call to end human trafficking through this year's NATAM Dance Challenge.

More than a dance, this is a collective expression of our commitment to building a tourism industry where every traveler, worker, woman, and child is safe, protected, and empowered.

In line with this year's theme, "Iisang Nasyon, Iisang Aksyon: Tapusin ang Human Trafficking Ngayon!", DOT Caraga continues to champion concrete interventions that prevent trafficking and other forms of exploitation in tourism spaces. Through our flagship SAFE-T (Safe and Fair Environment for Tourism) Inter-Agency Program, we work hand in hand with government agencies, local government units, tourism stakeholders, and communities to strengthen prevention efforts, enhance protection mechanisms, build the capacities of tourism frontliners, and foster a culture of vigilance and shared responsibility.

As NATAM 2026 comes to a close, our commitment does not end here. We remain steadfast in creating safe, fair, inclusive, and child-friendly tourism destinations where human trafficking has no place.

Together, let us continue to move with purpose, speak with courage, and act with compassion.
