A connecting flight LAOAG/MANILA/HONOLULU and onwards to
SAN FRANCISCO, LOS ANGELES and VANCOUVER --- and vice versa in 1994 which
opened in Laoag International Airport to traffic after its closure in 1986 when
President Ferdinand Marcos was exiled to Hawaii. The said flights afforded passengers bound for the U.S. and back, the most
convenient way of travelling where customs, immigration and quar
antine is done
at Laoag International Airport and skirting embarkation at the Terminal 2 which is
costly and time consuming against taking a land transport from Manila to Laoag. Today, the said connecting flight is the biggest revenue flight of the Philippine
Airline in the country which captured Ilocano migrant travellers from Hawaii, and
Continental America. Furthermore, we assisted and supported the lucrative chartered flights of Fort
Ilocandia Resort & Hotel from TAIPEI and KAOSHIUNG, Taiwan to Laoag when the
Hotel was owned by a Taiwanese. Noting transit flights through Manila from
mainland China to Taiwan, we went on to pave the way for transit flights via
Laoag which saved airliners of both countries; airport landing fees, airport
services and capturing Chinese tourist for Laoag. We were likewise the driving force behind the direct chartered flights from
Guangzhou, China --- the first chartered flight from mainland China to Laoag. An aborted daily chartered flight from Taiwan to Basco, Batanes was
Conceptualized in 1995. Its inaugural flight was initiated but succeeding flights
were aborted by the Taiwanese airline owners when the Philippine Air Transport
Office together with our Representative Office at Taiwan became uncooperative
