it was nice seeing you, our Opus 25. Our Holy Mother of God Church, Vladivostok, Russia. Completed in 2014. After more than 7 years, finally had the chance to tune this wonderful instrument.

INVITATION | The Cathedral Parish of St. Paul the First Hermit in San Pablo City, in cooperation with the Diego Cera Organbuilders, Inc., cordially invites you to the BLESSING OF THE GRAND MECHANICAL PIPE ORGAN on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Our Lord, the 25th of March 2025 at 3:00p.m. by the Most Rev. Marcelino Antonio M. Maralit Jr., D.D., Bishop of San Pablo. Holy Mass is at 3:30p.m.

The Blessing and Holy Mass will be followed by a Pipe Organ Concert featuring internationally acclaimed concert organist Magister Armando V. Salarza, together with organ music performance major Mr. Louie Angelo Oca, solo musicians, the San Pablo Diocesan Choir and the Cathedral Grand Choir under the baton of Mr. John Bartolome and Mr. Christopher Catapang respectively.

Dr. David Francis Urrows was educated at Brandeis University (A.B, magna cm laude, 1978, the University of Edinburgh M.Mus. 1980) and Boston University (D.M.A.,1987). He currently teaches music history and music theory and analysis. He has also taught composition, 20th cent. music history, aesthetics and orchestration at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

"When I arrived in Hong Kong in 1989, a colleague stopped by my office to ask if I knew anything about a bamboo organ in Shanghai. I had heard about the Bamboo Organ of Las Piñas but never heard about a similar instrument in China. The challenge was too great to be refused, and so I started to catalog the historical organs of China, all, alas, now destroyed." That was Dr. Urrows's introduction of an article he wrote in January 25, 2005 under the title: "Pipe Organ Building and the Jesuits in China".

After the lecture, you may join us for the performance of "The Marian Vespers (1610) by Claudio Monteverdi" at the Bamboo Organ Church.
