Camp JoeHey Forest by the Sea,Tuyom,Carcar City
Nestled in a mini forest of mostly Tugas (Molave), Balete (Ficus) and Mahogany trees, on the tip of Barangay Tuyom, Carcar City.
Getting there is no problem, a lot of motorcycles for hire are available in the main highway. You can also bring your 4 wheel ride if you want, SUV and high clearance vehicles are recommended. Parking area is near/inside the campsite.
On the way there, you can pass by the famous Carcar Shoe Market, which is just before the corner of Brgy. Valladolid where you make a turn towards Brgy. Tuyom. Carcar is famous for their leather shoes/sandals. Along the way from Brgy Valladolid to Brgy Tuyom, on the right of the road is the Archbishop Teofilo Camomot Shrine, people all over Cebu flock to offer prayers and write their petitions. The shrine is maintained by the nuns of the Daughters St. Therese whose convent is just inside of the same compound. Couple of kilometers away from the shrine is where you'll find Camp Joe Hey.
What's interesting with the Forest Camp is it is located in a little forest on top of a hill and overlooking the ocean on the other side. The sea is just few steps through the Mangroves from the camp.
Inside Joe Hey, are spacious camping sites, you can bring your own or you can rent their tents. You can also stay in the bamboo cottages scattered on the place for a minimal amount. Food and drinks are available but I recommend you bring your favorite chichirya, snacks or meals with you. The area is quite far from the main road, so getting the food you want will take some time. But the courteous and accomodating staffs offers to buy it for you if their motorcycles and riders are available.
There are also airconditioned rooms and considering that it is located few kilometers from the City, you'll be surprised that clean, pottable water is no problem. Tennis court (clay) and a separate volleyball/badminton court is just beside the resthouse and campsite.
So unsa pay gihuwat? Pag Camp Joe Hey na!!!
