Strengthening Sustainable Tourism Through Partnerships and Community Participation 🌱
In line with the continuous efforts to strengthen the tourism industry of the Province of Romblon, the Municipality of Looc proudly participated in the Cruise Agents Ocular Inspection and Assessment held on June 11–12, 2026.
We were honored to welcome representatives from Wallem Philippines Shipping, Inc., Wilhelmsen Smith Bell, TravelPeople Ltd., Inc., Southwest Tours, Silversea Expeditions, Sharp Travel, and Ben Line Shipping Agency as they visited Looc as part of their assessment for a potential Cruise Tourism Partnership in the municipality and the Province of Romblon.
This important activity showcased some of Looc's key tourism assets, including the iconic Looc Fish Sanctuary and Malbog Port in Brgy. Manhac, highlighting the municipality's potential as an emerging cruise tourism destination that champions environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and community participation.
The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Tourism MIMAROPA Region, under the leadership of Regional Director Roberto P. Alabado III; the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office of Romblon headed by Mr. Kim Anthony F. Faderon; and the Municipal Government of Looc, spearheaded by Municipal Mayor Atty. Lisette M. Arboleda, together with the Municipal Tourism Office led by Mr. Rio C. Gano.
More than a tourism assessment, this initiative reflects our shared commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 14 – Life Below Water
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Through community-led tourism, marine conservation, and responsible destination development, Looc continues to demonstrate that tourism can serve as a powerful tool for environmental stewardship, heritage conservation, and inclusive local economic growth. By empowering local communities as stewards and beneficiaries of tourism, we ensure that development remains sustainable, resilient, and beneficial for future generations.
Together, we move forward toward a future where tourism benefits not only visitors but also the communities that safeguard and share their natural and cultural heritage.
