The recently concluded handicraft training, which took place from December 17 to 19, 2024, at the Coco Coir Center in Brgy. Lower Caynaga, Lope de Vega, was a resounding success, bringing together participants eager to enhance their creative skills. This initiative was a partnership between the Municipal Tourism Office of Lope de Vega and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The training featured Ronie Masbate, a highly skilled trainer well-versed in coconut shell handicraft, who was very hands-on with everything, guiding participants through each step of the crafting process.

Sir Ronie provided personalized attention, ensuring that everyone grasped the techniques involved in transforming coconut shells into beautiful, functional items. Participants learned to carve, polish, and finish their creations, gaining practical skills they could use for personal projects or even to start their own small businesses. Over the course of the training, attendees fostered a vibrant atmosphere of learning and collaboration, sharing ideas and inspirations with one another.

The success of this training not only empowered participants but also contributed to the preservation of traditional crafts, reinforcing the cultural heritage of the municipality.

LOOK || The Municipality of Lapinig Wins the Best Booth Award for the Agri-Tourism Trade Fair

Displaying the creative artwork of the Lapinignons reflecting their rich culture, heritage and identity, the Municipality of Lapinig was hailed as the champion for the best booth competition during the Agri-Tourism Trade Fair receiving P350,000 cash prize.

The Municipality of Catubig won as the 2nd placer receiving P250,000 cash prize while the municipality of Lope De Vega which was hailed as the 3rd placer received P150,000.

The Agri-Tourism Trade Fair, as part of the celebration of the Ibabao Festival, is a display of the bounty, and agri-fishery produce of the municipalities of the province while also showcasing the creativity of the Nortehanons.

The result was announced at the Kauswagan Awards ceremony this evening, June 17, 2024.

Congratulations to the winners and a huge thanks to all participating municipalities!
