The NHCP will commemorate the 164th birth anniversary of Josรฉ Rizal on Thursday, 19 June 2025.
Wreath laying ceremonies will be held in the morning at the NHCP - Museo ni Jose Rizal, Calamba in Laguna, NHCP Museo ni Jose Rizal Dapitan in Zamboanga del Norte, NHCP Museo ni Jose Rizal Fort Santiago, and the Rizal National Monument in Manila.
In the afternoon, the children's book ๐๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ข๐ต๐ข๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ข๐จ๐ต๐ช๐ต๐ช๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ข ๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฐ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฐ will be launched at the Book Nook of The Podium in Mandaluyong City. Originally written by Hans Christian Andersen and translated into Tagalog by Rizal, it was adapted into modern Filipino with new illustrations. The book will also be made available on the National Memory Project (memory.nhcp.gov.ph).
Rizal is best known for exposing social problems and inspiring the Filipino people through his writings, especially his novels ๐๐ฐ๐ญ๐ช ๐๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ and ๐๐ญ ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ฃ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ด๐ฎ๐ฐ. He also gave free medical services and taught children while he was exiled in Dapitan.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
