Slowfootrunner Events Management invites you to the 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 100 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧, a challenging route from the Baluarte Watch Tower in Luna, La Union to the Currimao South Watch Tower in Ilocos Norte. This course incorporates scenic routes with a journey through the Ilocos Region’s historical landmarks.

Words of Thanks to the Department of Tourism, Region 1 for acknowledging the efforts of the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝘂 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 in the 3𝐫𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨 (𝗡𝗟𝗧𝗘𝗫) held last November 24 - 25, 2024. The said event was participated by National Travel & Tours Association's, Department of Tourism Region 1 Staffs, Tourism Stakeholders, Influencers and Bloggers.

On November 23 and 25, 2024, Luna, La Union celebrated two significant events that highlighted faith and cultural heritage. The 65th Pontifical Coronation Anniversary of Our Lady of Namacpacan featured a solemn Mass attended by hundreds of devotees, followed by traditional Filipino folk dances performed by local students. A key highlight was the Pinnakan Festival, where the community gathered to share food for free, embodying the spirit of unity, generosity, and inclusivity. Long tables filled with local delicacies were prepared, inviting everyone to partake regardless of status, reflecting the town’s enduring sense of camaraderie and hospitality.

On November 25, the Solemnity of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was presided over by Bishop Daniel O. Presto, D.D., of the Diocese of San Fernando, La Union. Similar cultural showcases further emphasized the community's shared devotion and the deep connection between their faith and rich traditions.

On November 14, 2024, the 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 (NDCP), the country’s premier academic institution for defense and security studies, brought participants of its 2nd English Language Course (ELC) to Luna, La Union. As part of their cultural immersion, the group paid a courtesy visit and toured the historic Baluarte Watch Tower, along with other notable cultural and historical landmarks in the area.

The visit allowed the ELC participants to learn more about Luna’s rich heritage and history, deepening their appreciation for the unique traditions and stories of the region.

In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Municipality of Luna has officially implemented the collection of an environmental fee starting today, August 21, 2024. This initiative is in line with Executive Order No. 46, Series of 2024, which details the rules and regulations for the enforcement of Section 4I.01, Article I of Municipal Ordinance No. 148-2023.
The newly implemented ordinance mandates the collection of an environmental fee within the municipality to support various environmental protection and conservation efforts. The collected fees will be allocated towards maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces, preserving natural resources, and funding environmental programs that benefit both residents and visitors.
EXEMPTION AND DISCOUNT FROM PAYMENT:
All permanent residents of Luna, La Union, provided, however, that he or she show proof of such residency. Proof of residency includes passport, community tax certificate, voter’s ID, barangay clearance, or any valid ID with complete address;
Filipino children 6 years old and below or persons with disability (PWD);
Government officials/personnel who are invited by the municipal government to perform official functions as requested by the Chief Executive (LCE).
Visitors who arrive for purposes of scientific/academic research with prior authority of any national government agency and/or the municipal government of Luna, La Union upon presentation of a letter of endorsement or mission duly signed by the requesting authority;
Tourist guide or coordinator;
All Filipino SENIOR CITIZENS shall be entitled to a 20% discount in the payment of the Environmental Tourism Ecological Fee.
