In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Municipality of Luna has officially implemented the collection of an environmental fee starting today, August 21, 2024. This initiative is in line with Executive Order No. 46, Series of 2024, which details the rules and regulations for the enforcement of Section 4I.01, Article I of Municipal Ordinance No. 148-2023.
The newly implemented ordinance mandates the collection of an environmental fee within the municipality to support various environmental protection and conservation efforts. The collected fees will be allocated towards maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces, preserving natural resources, and funding environmental programs that benefit both residents and visitors.
EXEMPTION AND DISCOUNT FROM PAYMENT:
All permanent residents of Luna, La Union, provided, however, that he or she show proof of such residency. Proof of residency includes passport, community tax certificate, voterโs ID, barangay clearance, or any valid ID with complete address;
Filipino children 6 years old and below or persons with disability (PWD);
Government officials/personnel who are invited by the municipal government to perform official functions as requested by the Chief Executive (LCE).
Visitors who arrive for purposes of scientific/academic research with prior authority of any national government agency and/or the municipal government of Luna, La Union upon presentation of a letter of endorsement or mission duly signed by the requesting authority;
Tourist guide or coordinator;
All Filipino SENIOR CITIZENS shall be entitled to a 20% discount in the payment of the Environmental Tourism Ecological Fee.
